We were told that this place had been rated #1 for Carbonara for several years in a row so we decided that we needed to give it a try. We could not find the hours for the place so we had our hotel call to make a reservation. I REALLY recommend reservations. We were there on a Friday night and it was PACKED. Not with tourists, but with Italians. And it's right next door to a police station so I'm sure they help keep it busy as well. By the way, the hours are: Lunch 1200 - 1430 and dinner from 1930-????

Andrea was our server and he was fantastic. No problem communicating with him at all and he had excellent recommendations. Total bill came to €78,50. That included service charge of €4,00 for 2, one bottle of still water, their sampler appetizer which had lots of little dishes to sample that was €20,00 (most expensive appetizer that they had but absolutely delicious), 2 plates of Carbonara that were out of this world, 1 bottle of wine that was €25,00 and 1 dessert (zuccotto) which Andrea recommended that was €7,00.

Everything was absolutely wonderful! The food did NOT disappoint, and my husband LOVED the dessert (I'm not much of a dessert person). We are looking forward to returning here on our next visit to Rome. Thank you Andrea for a terrific evening!

Came here after reading some reviews on a couple of blogs...had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, the place is not very large but was full...Sarted with a nice bottle of Barbera DAlba...My wife had bucatini amatriciana while I had spaghetti carbonara, followed by trippa ala romana...Both of my dishes were excellently cooked for my taste but my wife thought her pasta was too al dente...but all fresh and flavorful. We finished our dinner with a nice tiramisu and a cafe. Not cheap as our bill came to 100 Eu plus a 10% tip, but the food was great and original!

Trattoria da Danilo was our first dining experience in Rome this time around. It was heavily recommended by friends who had been there before. The carbonara con truffo is legendary yet definitely not for those faint of heart or stomach. The food is rich in taste and in calories. But do we regret it? Absolutely not. It is a good idea to leave the choice of wine to the host once you have decidd on your fare. They made an excellent choice for us. As good as the food and the service was, for a trattoria, it was a bit on the pricey side...

We visited Trattoria Da Danilo on the recommendation of our host and ended up having dinner there for three nights of our short stay in Rome. We were made to feel very welcome with great service (thanks Andrea!) and the food was amazing - it all added up to some very pleasant evenings. Will return to Rome if only for the opportunity of dining here again.

We were very curious about their Carbonara which we heard so many wonderful things about, but in reality it was just pretty good, and everything was really pretty lacking. The service was pretty bad actually and they really just treated us like a bunch of unimportant toursists.
