We have just returned from a long weekend at Villa Duse, and it was just perfect. The hotel is in the suburbs, a public tact from Fumicino airport on the meter cost €52. The hotel is beautiful, fairly small, and exceptionally clean. The hotel smells lovely, and attention to detail is prevelant all around. We went for my husbands 40th birthday and we were given a room upgrade (room 6), our friends were in a smaller room, room 4. Both were beautiful although room 6 was larger and came with a spa bath. There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room which would have been nice, although you could order coffees etc to take to your room. The gardens were pretty, and we enjoyed a drink and antipasti in the garden on an evening. No service available after 10pm. All of the staff were very accommodating and polite, speaking good English and being very helpful. Breakfast was sufficient, continental style. The best coffee in the world! I would highly recommend. We caught a taxi to the Spanish steps for €12, the bourghese park is a beautiful walk but you may want to save your feet for Rome!

Room Tip: Choose room 6!

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and had a great time! We were traveling with our baby boy.
The staff was really sweet and attentive. The room was very clean and quiet (very important for us). The hotel is located in a quiet and lovely area of Rome but not in the historical centre which is probably why it's so calm. We loved it!

My husband and I spent two nights here. After reading the reviews we were excited to check out this hotel. The hotel was close to the bus routes and there were a few dining options in the area as well as a supermarket. Taxi rides to the city varied, but were generally 20-30 euro to the city center. We did the daily bus pass the day we went to the Colosseo and there were a few times we ran into problems with the taxi drivers not knowing the area. (I recommend carrying the hotel business card and a map so that you can keep the driver on course just in case. If they are unfamiliar with the area of the hotel, then they may try and take you down a blocked off street, which we had to get out and walk because the driver refused to go any further..) My only complaints are really the lack of interest shown from the staff. The staff seemed nonchalant each time I would ask questions in regards to getting around the city. I am also a little disappointed that we did not have the chance to experience some of the extras on the property itself due to a lack of knowledge. (When we arrived we were shown our room and told where the breakfast room was.) Our room was nice and big and we definitely loved the fact that we had a few "English" movie channels. I also liked that we were able to tune into Daystar and TBN, for us that was a definite plus and somewhat rare! The hotel itself was quiet, I only saw two other couples while we were there, one leaving when we arrived, and the other leaving the day before us.. Overall, the hotel was nice, but it did leave me wanting a little more..

The hotel was very well presented with nice luxury detail in the room making our stay special. All the staff were very helpful and would go out of their way to and helped with bus and train times to get into town. Yes the hotel is within walking distance of the city centre, but an hour walk at a minimum. We got a bus/train/tram pass for the week which cost 15 euros. well worth while investing in if staying at this lovely hotel. The broadband connection was a little tempermental at times. The breakfast was to die for, with an excellent choice, the best buffet style I have every encountered, good room service too. A luxury hotel as advertised witin a shortish distance from the the hustle and bustle of the city.

We ( me and my family) were at Rome from 21st july to 25th July and unfortunately were staying at Hotel Villa Duse. We had the Tower Lodge and the Red Suite to ourselves. The problems we faced were :
1. Water leakage from the Bathroom roof, which was not resolved by the hotel.
2. Air conditioner not working properly.
3. We needed a bucket -- the hotel said they cannot provide it.
4. No availability of milk (Latte) in the room to make tea.
5. No availability of eggs in breakfast. Eggs were provided at extra cost ... 7 Euros for an omelette!!!!
6. The hotel was quite far from the Termini (main Railway station of Rome), and only one bus no. 360 was connected to the hotel from the station. After coming back from the city center / important areas like Spanish steps, etc... the frequency of buses was very limited.
WOULD NEVER SUGGEST ANYONE TO STAY HERE.

Dear Ashutosh18,

We are in receipt of your comments and we would like to apologise if your experience at the Hotel Villa Duse, did not meet your expectations;

However, having investigated the matter, it seems that the water leakage in the bathroom was caused by a problem in the air conditioning system, which was brought to our attention at the 10.30 pm of the last night. We did send a member of our staff to clean up the floor but unfortunately we did not have the possibility to call the maintenance person at that time.

We normally provide “room service” where we are able to serve fresh milk at any time and a bucket; we are extremely sorry if a misunderstanding on this occasion compromised the service you experienced.

We have taken note of your observations regarding the price charged for a portion of eggs (7 euros), but as hotel standards we have decided to provide high quality fresh cooked eggs to our guests! (please consider that our eggs are coming from an “organic farm” called San Bartolomeo!)

We are continually striving to improve the hospitality and the quality we offer, but we are ready to candidly admit our mistakes, that’s why we have decided as a goodwill gesture to apply a discount on your bill at the time of check out.

While apologising for any inconvenience we may have caused, we look forward to welcoming you and your family again at our hotel in the near future and we remain at your complete disposal for any further clarification you may require.

With Best regards.
