“Perhaps the best restaurant we've ever been to in Italy”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

We have been to Italy six times and visited many places, but this is the BEST restaurant we've been to. It's cozy and intimate, and staffed by the most welcoming family one could hope to meet. The food is simply superb, from the bolognese to the pasta amatriciana to the beef filet to the roasted vegetables to the utterly unique lasagna with onion and gruyere. The desserts were likewise extraordinary - the best tiramisu I've ever tasted, and the chocolate torte was perfection on a plate. The prices (including wine) are reasonable, and the staff never rushes its patrons. This gem was right outside our hotel (Hotel Bolivar), so we had no trouble finding it, but we imagine its location on a tiny alleyway could be difficult to locate. Whatever you have to do to find it, though, DO. Everything about it is wonderful, and you will have a quintessential Roman dining experience.

“Just as good second time”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

My husband and I visited this restaurant 2 years ago and I'm pleased to report that our recent visit lived up to our memories. The food is of a very good quality and served with pleasant and enthusciastic staff. Off the Main Street but well worth a visit.

“still dreaming of Santa Cristina”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

One of the best meals we had throughout our travels in London, Paris, Venice and Rome. In fact, it's one of the main reasons we're still dreaming of returning to Rome! Their signature zucchini flower pasta was to die for — even better than we imagined. At the waiter's recommendation, we each ordered our own dish of it and we were so glad we did. The beef wellington we shared was mouth-watering as well. And the homemade desserts were heavenly! The ambiance was lovely ... exactly what we were looking for. Can't say enough about this lovely restaurant.

“Very enjoyable evening”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

Really enjoyable visit to a truly 'family run' restaurant with cosy ambience and old fashioned style and character. Not flashy but redolent of traditional values

Excellent service (on 21st Feb) which was friendly and welcoming, helpful and attentive, but not intrusive; hit just the right note and made us feel both relaxed and contented.

Restaurant is not all that easy to find, about a couple of hundred metres north of Trajan's Column, but in a quiet location (close to the Hotel Bolivar which has a large sign to identify it from some distance).

Good choice of menu (recommend the fillet steak in honey sauce) which included a number of vegetarian option and a good wine list. The mother of the family is in charge of the kitchen and I would guess that much of the food is cooked to traditional recipes. Certainly good value for money @ c78 euros for a 2.5 course meal for 2 people excluding wine

I would not hesitate to go there again next time in Rome
