The staff at this establishment made our first time in Rome very pleasant and relaxed. We plan to come back and stay here again. We spent 4 nights here. We recommend it as excellent value for a couples place in Rome.

We (three people from Austria) enjoyed our stay at Relais 6 very much. Very nice and clean room, excellent coffee and very diverse breakfast, good bus connections to Termini and Piazza Venezia. Will come here again!

We spent 3 nights at the hotel with my family of 4. A comfotable and relaxing place just what you need after exhausting touring in the city. Great breakfast giving you energy for hours of walking. Staff was very helpful with everything, booking airport transfer, recommending restaurants, helping with maps and directions, etc. Location is pretty good, bus No 84 can take you quickly to Termini, and Piazza Venezia is not too far either. We would have preferred separated beds for the kids, but that was the only negative. We would return again, great value for money.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is situated in the northern parts of Rome with a ten minutes busride to Termini station (The central station of Rome). Our room was very clean and nicely decorated with a nice bathroom. A breakfast buffet was included in the price with different sorts of bread, some sausage and ham, some youghurts, scrambled eggs etc. The breakfast was good but not great. The service in the hotel was impeccable, you can trust the suggestions of restaurants that the service personal provides. The most impressive with this hotel however is that you get very much for very (in comparison with other hotels in Rome) little. We paid 60 euros per night for a four star hotel in Rome. I do not think that any other hotel can match this, if they can, please let us know :). The downside, if any, was that it is not situated in the center of Rome and requires a bus ride just to get to Termini which is not really located in the parts of Rome that you may want to visit. The public transport is not Romes best side, heavy traffic and crowded buses. We would recommend to take the metro if it is possible and stay away from the buses. It is also possible to walk from Termini to Fontana di Trevi and these areas but the stroll was not as short as we would have thought and more than one time we were a little bit frustrated about the lack of effective transportation. And, to take a taxi is not the solution either as the streets are very busy. So, by foot or metro. A day ticket for the metro system and bus system costs 4 euro and can be bought at the hotel.

So, would we recommend this hotel? Absolutely! But, be aware that it is situated in a way that requires bus transportation and altough you get to Termini in 10 minutes you may need 30 minutes to get to the touristic center of Rome.

You could have had 5 stars but please read below:

Relais 6 is the hotel you want to stay at and feel like you are in a home type setting. Walking down the hallways to my room, I was reminded of the smell of my grandma's house. It made me feel very comfy and at home. Overall, the property is very well kept and clean. The hotel is outside of the city centre, so be prepared when you fly in from Fiumicino to pay for this if you take a taxi. To get into the city, we used the Metro B line. We caught the train at the Bologna station, which was only a 10 minute walk. It is on Via XXI Aprille. To get to the airport, we took the Metro B to Tiburtina, and then boarded the train from Tiburtina to Fiumicino. With Metro costs and train fare, it only costs 8 Euro, 75. This was a HUGE savings when it costed us 85 Euro to get to the hotel by sedan service!!!

Before I continue, I must give a very special thank you to Giacomo (I hope I spelled that right!)!!! He was very professional! He gave us tips of where to eat and businesses in the area, helped my mom, and greeted us every night. Of all of the front desk members, he was by far the best and most courteous!!! If promotions ever come up, this guy needs one!

Breakfast was very good. The bread was a little stale, but other than that, well done. They have a variety of yogurts (European dairy.....I will miss you!), cornettos, salame, prosciutto, juices, scrambled eggs, and so on. I liked the gentleman who asked what type of coffee we would like.

Our room was ok. Very small, especially for 3. Cleanliness was also so so. The floors always felt like they were not swept. You could see under the bed and all of the dust that was accumulating. I don't think that the floor was mopped either. We were there 7 days too. We found hairs in the sink after it was supposedly cleaned. One night we had made a mess on accident and the next evening when we returned, we were told "we need to be cleaner" and that "it took 45 minutes to clean our room". I'm sorry, but in a customer service role, you DO NOT tell a customer to be cleaner! That comment will make your guests feel like they are dirty and not welcomed. If it took 45 minutes to clean the room, then why were the bottoms of my feet dirty after walking on the room floor after getting out of the shower?

Check out was poor. When we checked out, we were advised that there was a "tourist tax" that was only payable in cash. This was a surprise to us. We were told by the front desk that we were advised of this when we checked in and that they tell everyone this. I did not remember being told this. AGAIN, in a customer service role.....you DO NOT tell a customer what they heard or did not hear. I did not remember being told that this "tax" was cash only! We had no cash, we checked out at 5 AM, and had to catch a flight at 8 AM. I can't make cash appear out of thin air! So after writing down ALL of my CREDIT CARD info on a piece of SCRATCH PAPER, he charged the tax and we were allowed to proceed.

I think that in the future, the hotel should give guests a courtesy reminder the day before they check out that they have a tax to pay and that it is cash only. After being on a plane for 14 hours and being awake for over 24 hours, I hardly even remember the check in process.

All in all, ok stay. Even though there were 2 or 3 things that were below average, they are things I will take into consideration when I choose a hotel to stay at next time I am in Rome.

Dear TripAdvisor Travelers

We reply to this comment with great sadness because, in reality, it is a case of blackmail made by guests who have procured intentionally damage to our hotel, staff and other kind guests, and to cover their shoulders, have used TripAdvisor as a “ means of blackmail”.

Three American clients, mother and two adult sons, began their visit on March 20th 2012, they presented them self at the check-in being three persons instead of two, as for their original booking. As usual being very generous we allowed them to take a triple room for a little extra charge of € 25 per person per night not applying this way our official rate for the period which was far more higher, this is of course one of our personal tribute of our style of hospitality.

Immediately these clients began starting problems, they kept the room and the bathroom in a very undignified state of dirt which made it very difficult for our housekeeping ladies to keep it in order and clean every day for them, but even worse, is that to get on one of the beds, placed on a higher 1 meter floor, instead of using the suitably placed ladder, they lifted them self’s by their arms via the wall, pointing the heel of the shoe on the bright paper walls of which they left many signs that were difficult to remove.
At this point, with extreme politeness, we explained to the clients that the house rules are not necessarily the case of making damage but with indifferent response they continued to observe their adversely behavior in disrespect of hotel staff, premises and other kind guests in house. They constantly arrived at breakfast room every morning far over the closure time expecting to find the buffet full and being served as they pleased.

On the last day before departure they were throwing and slamming things around and banging bags on the walls and on the floor in their room at 4am in the morning with no respect of other guests who were sleeping in those early morning times. At check-out they threatened the night Porter sayng they would write a very negative comment on Tripadvisor.

After check-out at 5:00am they left on foot, then a private car who they personally booked came to pick-them up at 5:45 am and did not find them as they had already left, again they did not consider the fact of being wise and cancel an early morning pick-up that would of saved time, and fuel, in disrespect of peoples work.

To prevent a claim for damages, that we never ventilated for ourselves, these gentlemen in question, probably savvy travelers and navigators of the Internet, the day before their departure, sent via e-mail to the hotel a copy of the in-room guest questionnaire where again they threatened to write a bad comment on Tripadvisor.

What should I say when everything was super and excellent?
The room was big enough, clean and modern. There was a safe box as well.
The breakfast was top. Best quality. Fruits were fresh. You got coffee in best quality. One cup or two cups or three cups... No problem.
The next time when I will stay in Rome again I hope there is a room free for me

The hotel is excellent - it's clean, it's nicely decorated, the rooms are a good size, the ensuite bathroom was very nice, with a good shower.

The staff at the front desk were very welcoming, and extremely helpful. They showed us where to get buses from to get to the different parts of town, and which ones to get; where was best to go to eat; where to avoid.

The breakfast was ok - if you want scrambled eggs, get there early, or they'll all be either gone or cold. But there was a good selection of cold breakfast options - croissants, bread, cheeses, meats, lots of juices & fruit.

The only issue that you really need to be aware of is how far out of town it is. It is at least a 20 minute bus ride in (you can't really walk it), so once you're out for the day, that is it - no popping back to the hotel to get changed before dinner/get a jumper/get rid of your bag.

The hotel itself though, is excellent - as long as you don't mind the travelling into the city.
