“Lunch with the fashion crowd”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

Located very close to Via Condotti you might find yourself surrounded by people from the fashion industry at lunchtime. The food is authentic, but sophisticated, with some elegance and an unobstrusive service. Reasonable prices for this area and the quality, what could be the reasons that the locals go there for lunch.

“My must-visit restaurant on every trip to Rome.”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

This one remained a locals' secret for the longest time, until a recent guidebook and a recent NY Times article outed it. I was bummed because I loved always being able to get a table! But since it's out there now, I may as well shower it with praise. Actually, it's so close to the Via del Corso that I'm surprised more tourists don't happen upon it.

Food: excellent. Standard Roman fare. Lunchtime is local businesspeople, evening is families, locals, couples. Most of the staff doesn't speak English, which I actually like -- it doesn't feel touristy that way. There's one waiter in particular who's always been kind of rude/brusque, even though I speak Italian, but the rest of the staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and gracious. And here's a bonus: my mom can't have white flour, so pasta is off-limits for her -- which sucks if you're in Italy, especially if Settimio has something on the menu like truffle pasta or porcini mushrooms with pasta. We discovered 2 trips ago that this restaurant has gluten-free pasta -- can you believe?? And it's not that dark, heavy wheat pasta: it looks like normal pasta. My mom was in heaven. Meat dishes here are fantastic as well: if you're celebrating do the big giant steak thing (can't remember the name of it) -- but if someone else orders it, you will hear the sizzle and you'll smell it. It's amazing. Even something as simple as meatloaf (here served with a basil cream sauce) is excellent. And even though it's not on the menu, ask for an order of bruschetta al pomodoro, because something as simple as that will blow your mind.

I like that in the 10 years I've been going here, it's basically the same people still working there. I noticed this past trip that there was a new waiter -- really young guy -- and he was so eager, friendly, helpful -- it was great to see. If I lived in this area this would be the place i would eat at several times a week. Always excellent.

“Fantastic Fiorentina”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

I've been to Settimio All'Arancio twice in a week whilst visiting Rome. The restaurant location is excellent, just a walk away from Via del Corso, Phanteon, and many other central Rome sightseens. The best things that I had are the Pasta alla Gricia and the Fiorentina that is served at your table on top of a hot grill with potato chips and a selection of vegetables. They have tables outside but since they are not that many I'll suggest you to book before you go. Staff is very corteus and attentive.
