Description: In the hearth of ancient Rome, in a small corner of the old capital is a place almost hidden, rocked by the streets of a Rome of the past but still forever where one feels the most authentic Roman “La taverna degli amici” was born so , quiet, away from the daily noise, where the scents and smells capture attention to the Roman walks in the streets between the Capitol, the Teatro Marcello and the Ghetto. The simple yet refined cuisine, tasty but not heavy, offers a unique opportunity to pass moments in which taste and beauty come together in the customer’s Taverna with fresh dishes and not binding at ‘sign of the oldest and most famous Roman tradition.

“An oasis of enjoyment after a morning-long Colosseum tour.....”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

Some friends had recommended this restaurant to us, and we're sure glad they did. It was about a 15 minute walk from the end of our tour and a bit tricky to find this small piazza but well-worth the effort. The outdoor seating area looks into the small Piazza Margana and has a large canvas awning as a sun-shade, so it was very comfortable to be seated outside, with lots to look at and people-watching opportunities. The food was delicious and well-priced, and the service timely. Being a beat off the beaten track, it tends to feel more authentic than many other spots.

Two thumbs up !

it is a bit tricky to find this small

“Great lunch after a long morning sightseeing”
Reviewed May 16, 2013 via mobile

Great location for lunch after a full morning bashing the cobbles of Ancient Rome. Only 5 minutes from Capitol Hill and set in a lovely peaceful square. The battered and fried vegetable anti-pasta dish was delicious as was everything else we ate. Good service from a family staff. Recommended.

“Rome on a plate”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Set in one of Rome's more tranquil squares this lovely Roman restaurant. Traditional food with a modern twist. Exceptionally pleasant waiting staff. Pasta here is served as a Primi Course ...so don't go expecting a great big serving. No pizzas either. Wonderful fresh ingredients served piping hot. Refreshing to eat somewhere surrounded by Italian diners. Worth every euro.

“Great lunch spot on a sunny square”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Thins is a traditional Roman trattoria in a convenient location. I enjoyed an innovative anchovies antipasti followed by a daily eecially: fettuccini with asparagus and ham. There could have been a bit more asparagus but the dish was well prepared.
