“Different accommodation in great location”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

This is a suite hotel at room rates! Each one is different and has a style of it's own. Great staff, friendly, helpful and informative. 5 mins walk to the Colosseum and other sites. On the bus route to the Vatican. Round the corner from the main shopping street and next door to a very good restaurant. I could not want for more.

Room Tip: These are "suites" so choose according to budget

We took a cab from the train station and the cabbie screwed us and took us to the wrong place. We were lost and only knew the crossroads where we were. I called the DVR and they came and got us, we were a 5 minute walk away. The location is fantastic with a great restaurant next door and a 24 hr cafe at the corner. There is also a Taxi stand and bus stop at the corner. We had the Rita Hayworth room. It had plenty of room, a kitchen, and on the 3rd floor is a outdoor patio area. The staff was great and very helpful. When we return to Rome we will be staying here again.

My wife and I stayed at the DVR for 6 days in the Pier Paolo Pasolini room in mid September to celebrate our anniversary. The studio apartment was nicely furnished with a big patio and the staff was great, helpful and very friendly. The hotel is centrally located near Piazza Venezia which is within 10 minutes walk to so many places its very mind boggling. The market is about 5 minutes away if you want to grab food and drinks for the apartment. This is a very nice hotel and I would surely stay here it again.

We have just completed a five night stay at the wonderful DVR, Rome. We stayed in a standard room (Niño Mandredi), which was more than adequate for the two of us and extremely comfortable. DVR was very centrally placed, easily 10 mins walk to the sights and main streets. What made our trip exceptional was the first class service that we received from the front desk. Frederica went beyond her way to assist us when we realized we had booked tours for the wrong week (I promise you, I'm a seasoned traveller), she took charge of the situation and made all the necessary calls to rebook the tours. She and her wonderful staff were helpful, friendly and extremely accommodating. We are not in the habit of hugging the front desk staff goodbye but were genuinely happy and impressed with the service received. Rome is not often know for its customer service but DVR definitely lead the way in setting the bar high.

Room Tip: If you're traveling with a lot of luggage/ small children avoid the second floor.....the lift do...

one cannot ask for more, when in rome, the hotel is on a side street just across from il vittoriano, with a major bus stop next to the vittoriano, the apartment we had was for 4 but we were only 2, the kitchen worked as we cook a few meals and used the frig a lot, bathroom was great, (curling irons do not work not enought power) the staff was great all spoke english and help in all we asked from them, the wifi worked and it has fox news on t v, the air condition worked fine, and we were able to walk anywhere on the most part, take bus 46 to the vatican get off just past the tunnel and your a block away, or take any bus in the direction u want to go and u will save lots of walking, we were 15 mins walk to the spanish steps and other fountains the bus does not collect fares so u go free, getting on n off is very easy, will stay there again when back in rome, we took a taxie to the air port cost us 47 euro, best way if you have lugage a fine hotel to stay so go for it,

The rooms were dark and the furniture was "poor" looking, something like out of cheap motel in north america, like Motel 6. We have stayed at the "Boutique Hotel Trevi" 3 years ago in Rome and it was much better.

The beds at DMV were not comfortable and the sofa bed was old and stained. The shower door seal was not good and everytime someone took a shower there was a flood in the bathroom. The shampoo came in "McDonalds ketchup" style plastic packets, and was not good at all. Towels were old and cheap too. There was no view from the rooms at all. It was difficult to find English channels and the use of the TV satellite was not trival... and we are a tech savy family. For the internet, only one device at a time could be used, so if I was on the laptop, my daughter could not use her IPad. There was no safe in the room and the front clerk would only hold passports, no cash, creditcards, etc...

However, I must admit that location was very central, and it was nice to have a small kitchenette in the room which was well stocked with pots, pans, a stove top espresso maker, etc...

The place has great potential as the units are large and centrally located. I understand that Italy is going through an ecomomic crisis, but a few items that are not so expensive could really make a difference:
- New high quality towels and bedding - current is very cheap look and feel
- Higher Quality Shampoos and toilet paper
- Fix what is broken (ie shower door seal)
- Clean/fix broken/worn furniture.
