Description: The restaurant "Baths of Diocletian" has been in business since 1986 and has now found its precise location in the capital's restaurant scene. The strength of our business is the professionalism and friendliness of its staff, coordinated by the brothers Dario and Michael Califano who, having taken over the business for about 4 years have brought their experience gained in restaurants and a high level attractive environment that led to immediate success. Of course, these weapons are not just winning. Contributes in a decisive manner, a varied menu of fish and meat from the impression typically Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on Roman cuisine, where classic flavors come together with some innovative touches typical of the chef. Another distinctive feature of the restaurant is the deep attention to the history of its local input in the area that was occupied by the majestic monument of the ancient Roman Baths of Diocletian, which was the largest thermal baths of ancient Rome. The ancient baths in addition to the central group of buildings now transformed into the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Roman National Museum, are two of the four round corner that currently houses the restaurant Baths of Diocletian. The venue for its strategic location, very well connected by bus and metro, as well as a large car park, offers a unique environment: its spacious rooms, on two levels and all air conditioned, accommodating up to 200, creating the right atmosphere, by the informal working lunch, the romantic dinner, and is specialized for the reception of tourist groups and tours operators.During both summer dinner is served in the roof garden, in a setting of elegance and charm, only in the heart of the Eternal City.

We asked our Hotel barman for a recommendation for a restaurant for a home style meal. To our amazement we wiped our plates dry. Home made pasta, gnocchi & traditional pasta sauce. My son had the steak and it was to die for like Everything else. We have since eaten there twice and aiming to go back before we leave for Australia tomorrow. Don't forget to try the mussles also. Compliments to the chef and staff of this restaurant from a retired chef from Australia. It's nice to see passion for the consumer and not just a tourist service. Take care and thank you for your hospitality.

For a summer visit to Rome a meal on the rooftop of Ristorante Terme di Diocleziano tower is recommended. Really excellent grilled mixed fish and mixed starter. The house wine is perfectly good to keep the meal very affordable.
I would go again

We had a one night stay in Rome before our flights left the next morning. We stopped by this restaurant on a recommendation from the Concierge at the Hotel Universo. It was very close, about a 3 minute walk or so. We sat on the rooftop patio. It was very nice. The staff was excellent. We had our 5 year old son with us and they were very good with them. The owner of the restaurant came to our table and talked with us before we ordered. One of our party was born in Italy 50-something years ago and it turns out that he and the owner were born in the same town.
He told us that he uses his mother's recipe for the Gnocchi and that it was very good. The Italian in our group had his doubts as his mother's Gnocchi was apparently outstanding and he had been unable to find anything that was even close to the same during his 6 weeks in Italy. Well, long story short, he said it was not "his mother's" but it was excellent, and the best he's had anywhere else. I got the same and throughly enjoyed it. I would have like the portion to be a little larger, but it tasted excellent. We noticed some of the other dishes came out with significantly larger portions, not sure why this one was smaller. Perhaps because the Gnocchi is labour intensive and costs more to make. But regardless, we really enjoyed the evening and would send anyone back there. We liked it.

What a surprise! We were told about this restaurant by our concierge. When we went inside it was empty. We were then taken up to the roof which was crowded. The waiters are very attentive, but not pushy. I ordered the grilled fish. It was expertly deboned by my waiter and was wonderful. My partner ordered tonnarelli with cheese and pepper. What a great presentation! The cheese had been melted, formed into a sheet and made into a basket that contained the pasta. It was delicious. We ordered tiramisu for dessert. Well worth the calories. We were given small glasses of Lemoncello on the house. Be sure to go!!
