“Vatican tour with Cynzia, Enthrallinf”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

This is simply the best our I've ever been on. Cynzia was unbelievably knowledgeable. She answered every question with precise, detailed answers. She provided an unbelievable amount of historic context for each of the pieces we saw. I was impressed by the way she built up our "renaissance art alphabet" toolkit before we got to the Sistine chapel so that we had a better appreciation for what we were seeing. For someone coming in with very little knowledge or appreciation of renaissance art, I was impressed, moved, and enthralled. More than anything, I appreciated her deep knowledge of the personal history of each of the individual artists to help us understand how they developed their aesthetic over time.

One note. The earsets were INVALUABLE. Every tour should include these. It allowed Cynzia "to be in our heads." And most importantly, we didn't have to strain to hear. No question in my mind that this helped us to maintain a high level of interest in the tour.

I've never been a big believer in tours, but I am going to book an Eternal Tour for Florence (our next leg). Any reccomendations on the right tour guide?

“Rome at Night with Gabriel”
Reviewed January 23, 2012

We took the Rome at Night tour with Gabriel. Pitch the fancy shoes and wear the comfortable ones. Our family, 2 daughters enjoyed the tour. Lots of walking, but Gabriel made it very entertaining and kept a comfortable pace. For our first visit to Rome, we thought this would be a great way to safely walk around and get acquainted with the city. Great choice. Gabriel pointed out a number of unique back alley points of interest that added a lot of color to Rome, in addition to the main attractions.

It rained in buckets that night and Gabriel kept on without hesitation. Very memorable as we were all soaking wet afterwards and had very little company as all the smart people were inside.

Well worth the money and I would encourage this group tour the first first evening of opportunity. We felt very comfortable walking everywhere after this tour.

“merely a tour broker - hit or miss on what guide you get”
Reviewed April 9, 2011

On the specific guide, I am sure folks' taste & style are highly variant about what makes a great guide. I didnt appreciate being repeatedly called "mate" nor an Italian dark sunglassed character making endless small talk with my daughter. The guide is supposed to be present Rome, not merely hang out trying to play a stereotype in "Gidget Goes to Rome".
Recommend being very clear upfront on whether or not admission is included in their Price or not. Some tour operators include it whereas others like Enternal Tours arent clear upfront & don't include. Depending on the size of your party, this can materially sway things. Also recommend knowing the difference between reviews of independent guides rather than an agency who is maintaining more than one "tour guide" website. Got the impression that operators of Eternal Tours Rome must carry half-dozen business cards, each listing a different enterprise.

Dear Wild Bill T from California, as owner of Eternal Tours here in Rome, I am very happy to inform you that of the three (3) private tours booked in March (we run a small, exclusive private tours service), you were not party to any of them.

After exhaustive enquiries this afternoon, we really have no idea who you are. You did not book a tour with us. You booked with another agency in Rome which uses the name 'Eternal' or 'Eternity'.

For the record, we have five (5) index / sub-index pages on our website, all of which clearly state our policy re. entrance admission fees. These are not included in tour costs (normal for all private tour agencies in Rome).

We have five (5) professional, licensed tour guides, all of whom are experts in their field.

The guide you have described works for another agency.

Because you booked with another agency.

“excellent and reputable company”
Reviewed August 5, 2010

We booked a tour with this company in 2007 and unfortunately our guide did not show, which of course was disappointing. I wrote to the company the next day, not expecting much but received sincere apologies and a promise of a free tour any time in the future for us or friends of ours. Three years later (!) we decided to see if they would still honour this and - impressively- they did. We had a great tour with a knowledgeable guide. This is obviously a very reputable company.

“Eternal Tours was FANTASTIC... best way to see Rome!”
Reviewed July 7, 2010

We took a private 3 hour Historic Center Tour of Rome, with Eternal Tours. Our guide, Manuela, was really terrific!!! Not only was she thoroughly knowledgeable about everything we saw, but she was quite friendly and very accommodating as to what we wanted to see. Manuela was able to squeeze in so much in just three hours! We were very pleased with the cost of the tour - it was much lower than we had anticipated for a private tour - and we were also quite impressed with the communications we received from Pete, the gentleman who arranged the tour for us. It was definitely worth every single penny!!! There is really no better way to see Rome than with a guide who was able to explain so much about the history of what it was we were looking at. We should have booked ALL of our tours with Eternal Tours! We took two other tours while we were in Rome with a company called Viator and they were AWFUL!!! We were VERY disappointed with Viator for the over-priced, under-informative tour of the Vatican, and the over-priced bus trip tour of Tuscany. I wish we knew about Eternal Tours before we ever took those other two tours. What a waste of money they were. Live and learn. Grazie, Manuela! And thank you, Pete... we were very happy with your service and will definitely recommend you to friends and family headed to Rome!
