“Excellent Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

Our party (7 adults, 2 children) ate here twice on our holiday, and the food was uniformly excellent on both occasions. The beef, cod, sea bass, pork and rabbit were all lovely, and the children enjoyed their pizzas. The wine list was comprehensive and good value, and the service excellent. Highly recommended.

“Top marks!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

Some special Italian friends gifted us a lunch here as a wedding present. What a delight! We had an excellent 4 course meal, beautifully served in elegant, relaxing surroundings. The antipasti was a delicious selection of cheeses, sliced meats, sweet melon and herby bread. Then we had risotto cacio pepe with pear, followed by roast pork with delicately cooked spinach. Dessert was those yummy little chocolate cakes hot out of the oven with melted chocolate inside. I thought I was too full to finish it but it just slipped down. For drinks, we started with a welcome glass of prosecco and then shared a very decent bottle of Nero d'Avola. Everything was beautifully presented and efficiently served by a young waitress who explained every dish with care. Gianfranco, the owner, was warmly welcoming. La Dispensa is deep in the Roman countryside heading northwest out towards Lake Bracciano. Do check availability before you go - May is wedding and confirmation season and I imagine they have lots of big bookings.

“Pleasant experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2011

Far away from the hustle and bustle of touristy central Rome (although only 15 km from the Vatican), this place caters mostly for the local crowd. So for an authentic experience, foodwise and social, do not shun the somewhat longish and curvy drive. Also do not get deterred by the practical absence of English speaking skills - with a bit of good will and patience things will work out, eventually.

For the food: all sorts of stuff, really. The pizzas are thin-crust Roman, with an excellent crunchy dough, and solid ingredients - very yummy! The pork fillet was tender and juicy, just delightful. The mixed salad although fresh, a bit bland. Overall the chef seems to be into the subtleties of taste, so do not expect lots of spices and salt in your meal. I like it that way, but it is probably a matter of ... taste, thats right.

Ambience is great. Staff (if you can communicate with them) just fine. If you drive by, check it out, and if you stay in the wider area then a visit is a must (if you have reasonable transportation).

Oh, pricewise you can get a decent feed for about 20 Euros per person which is not cheap, but an Italian reality in the age of the inflated Euro.
