Osteria close to the Ponte Sisto. A change to be on the other side of the river for dinner. Serves authentic Roman food. We always prefer to sit inside to be away from traffic and the smokers. Simply prepared, unpretentious honest food, no tourist menu although mostly tourists were dining there this evening. Nothing special in my my opinion but we enjoyed it. Good value.

This restaurant quickly became our favorite place to go. Simple, down-to-earth and very well prepared meals. Oliviero, the owner has a unique sense of detail and the ambiance of this restaurant is extremely agreeable to us. We enjoyed sitting inside and loved the food. We especially appreciated the simple bottled house red that we occasionally coupled with our dinner. This place has character and does not depend on hype. It's also in a very nice location. We would recommend this to anyone visiting Rome. We found that it is also very popular among the locals. Molto Buono!

My tips for eating in rome:

If they offer you to come in, dont go. If there is a picture on the menu, dont go. If the menu is translated a million different ways, dont go. If the staff speaks fluent english, dont go. If there are lots of american's or french fries on the menu. DONT GO.

Go to a little place down an alley where you hear locals speaking in italian, sipping on bottles of wine.

Hosteria Ponte sisto nailed every checkmark for us.

We ate here twice in our 5 day trip. The prices cant be beat. The staff is friendly. Everything that we ate was a dish that I will think about for a long time.

I would list what we got, but like most quality restaurants, ponte sisto rotates their menu seasonally so the dishes might not be available again. That said the octopus salad, and tuna civiche were amazing, as was the spaghetti fruitti de mare, the suckling pig, and the beef tenderloin (im a carnevore and this steak was as good as any NYC steak house).

I cant say enough about how nice we were treated.

We visited this cute little restaurant early evening with our 1 year old boy as I loved the quaint look of it from the outside. Inside, a lovely atmosphere with music playing and Veronica, our waiter who was very attentive to our needs with an infant and extremely welcoming. We opted for the 3 course budget set menu (great value!) as our son could also share this food and this was a great decision! The spaghetti was beautiful and the red wine fantastic. The restaurant owner, Oliviero was extremely friendly and was excellent at entertaining our young son, plus after finding out it was his birthday the following day, kindly offered us free champagne! Needless to say, all in all, as a family, we would dearly recommend this restaurant to those with children or without.
