Julius Caesar B&B
Ranked #837 of 3,712 Rome B&B and Inns
Reviewed September 2, 2010

The B&B was easy to reach, right next to a metro station, which meant getting around Rome was easy. However when we arrived at the front door we were faced with around 20 push buttons - the B&B is location within a block of apartments - some residential. We were given instructions on how to get the the B&B once inside the block, but misinterpreted 'take the lift, fourth floor' as 'take the left, first floor' and subsequently got rather lost.
A note on the lift: It does look rather scary reading 'DONT GO more than two people in the lift - danger of blocking' but by the end of our stay we found it rather endearing!
The B&B itself was fantastic. We we delighted, after arriving hot and tired, that the air condition worked fantastically. The shared bathroom was spacious and clean, (as was everything throughout the apartment) and we found sharing not to be a problem at all.
Wifi was great and worked throughout - there was also a computer for guest's use. As the owners don't live in, it was like having our own apartment, and as all the other guests left during our stay, we had the run of the place.
The kitchen had a coffee machine, fridge and toaster. Continental breakfast only, which I found a little disapointing, as it was all from packets, however my friend enjoyed thoroughly the juice, yoghurts, and mini apple tarts provided.
Also be aware that it can be noisy if fellow guests get up early and make coffee! Our heads seemed to be right on the other side of the wall, and it was a little loud early in the morning!
Once of the best reasons to stay here is that it is SO CLOSE to the vatican and St. Peters. Literally 10 minutes walk - we went there every evening, and felt very safe walking back late at night.
Great place to stay - we loved it!

I've been to Julius Ceasar recently and have been very happy about my stay. The rooms are nice. The B&B is an appartment with four rooms in it. They rent each rooms, so you really feel like you have your own appartment. We had are own bathroom, but it really wasn't necessary, the shared bathroom was perfectly fine.

The B&B is next to a metro station and 5 minutes walk from the vatican.

There is a computer in the hallway, with a webcam if you want to use Skype.
There is a small kitchen with a toaster and a fridge (no oven). They fill the kitchen with yogourt, milk, juice, jam and croissant or something similar so you can make your own breakfast when you want.

The only drawback is that it is an appartment, so if your "roomates" wake's up at 4AM to take the plane, you will hear them until they leave. And our bed was squeaky, so no cuddling there...

Also, since there is nobody at the reception at all time, be sure that they sent you a confirmation about your time of check-in, or you will have to wait outside on the street... bring the phone number with you just in case... And set a time for your payment on your check-out day or before.

The owners are great and they will help you if you need anything. I would recommend this hotel.

Arriving at Julius Caesar was a little hectic as there was no reception. We waited for the host to arrive and were very satisfied after being settled in. Host Marco and Lorenzo gave us pointers and tips about the city and provided maps. Hosts are rarely around as they are only seen when new guests are arriving or late noon when they make up the four rooms. The room and bathroom were spacious, bright and clean also included a tv night stand, A/C, and a small balcony . Breakfast was available anytime through out the day as the kitchen was open to everyone. Breakfast included bread, jam, nutella, milk, coffee etc. Wi fi and a computer with internet were also available 24/7. Location is great as it is steps away from the metro and a good 5 min stroll to the Vatican. Overall this place made us feel at home and no other B&B throughout our trip could compare.
