“Great hosts at Le Fate”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Le Fate apartaments was great. Nicely located near the Trastevere neighborhood so great access to food and nightlife just a short surface-train ride away. Room was clean, well-kept and nicely decorated. What really made the place great was the host and hostess. They went out of their way to tell us about the neighborhood, how to get to all the major destinations in Rome, restaurant recommendations, etc. Two of the friendliest most accommodating B&B owners we've encountered in our travels.

Our stay in Rome, Italy was perfect all was nice and wonderful, and we are so lucky to have the room with the balcony at Le Fate the owner Fabrizio is very welcoming. We came early as the usual check-inn but he accommodated us in a very pleasant way, we left our bags and when we came back our beautiful room was ready, very clean and nice looking. We had our own toilet and bathroom, inside our room there is a small fridge (yoghurt, milk, juices, jam and fruits inside) and our own coffee machine (tea's are also available). All of that was included in our room, and the room price is very affordable. The location is very accessible to any point of touristic place, we just took the tram as always and it is always an easy way to just be lost with the beauty of Rome.

Room Tip: Rooms with the balcony are super!

A lovely get-way in the suburb of Trastevere, which provides surprisingly easy access to the centre of Rome.
Le Fate Apartments is in a quiet residential area about a 10 minute walk from Travestere train station (which was very handy for a trip up to Lago di Bracciano!), about a 5-10 minute walk from Tram line 8 (on Circonvallazione Gianicolense) which runs through Trastevere to Largo di Torre Argentina. The building has a small lift, which is good as the B&B is on the 4th floor.
The room we stayed in had a good-sized double bed, ensuite shower room, and even a balcony (which was lovely for breakfast in the morning). The room was a good size, with space for luggage, and had air-conditioning, wifi and a fridge/mini-bar. Breakfast is served in the room, and really goes beyond the usual continental breakfast. Not only is the fridge stocked with breakfast juices and milk, yogurts and jams, but there is an excellent coffee machine for an espresso or tea, and a further selection of homemade biscuits, biscotti, cakes, fruit and cereal. These are also beautifully wrapped and presented by Fabrizio, the owner. he puts the same care and attention into the presentation of linen, and toiletries, which really gives the whole experience a special quality.
Fabrizio is extremely welcoming and helpful, and speaks excellent English. He and his father also run a restaurant (also called 'Le Fate' on Viale di Trastevere), which we unfortunately did not have time to visit, but are keen to return to try the Gricia!
Overall, I would definitely recommend Le Fate to friends. It is excellent value for money, and I would certainly stay again.

Staying at Le Fate was an excellent experience. My friend and I stayed there for 3 days in late June and we truly felt like it was a home away from home. Our host Fabrizio was very warm, friendly, welcoming and accommodating. He is always bright and cheerful although he leads a very busy life - in the evening up until the early hours of the morning, he works in a restaurant, and as soon as he gets up he would be be hard at work cleaning up the suites in the apartment.

The B&B is located in an elegant residential building in the suburb of Trastevere. The apartment is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated - the decor is whimsical and tasteful. We stayed in the suite for two with a double bed and a private bathroom. Both the bedroom and the bathroom were very spacious (the bathroom comes with a bath tub). We had our own fridge and coffee machine and the pastries that we had for breakfast were all baked by Fabrizio. We had different treats every day which was a lovely touch. Free WiFi was also provided.

It is clear that Fabrizio pays close attention to every detail. The little touches make the stay perfect - the basket of toiletries, the set of towels tied in a beautiful bow, the magazines in the bathroom, etc. The room next to ours also has a balcony with lush flowers.

On our final evening we had dinner in Le Fate Restaurant which is owned by Fabrizio's family. They were kind enough to hold a table for us when we were running late for our reservation, despite it being a very busy night for them. We had an absolutely lovely time - the food was fresh, fantastic and very reasonably priced, and they were very generous with their portions.

Although the B&B is located a short distance away from Rome's main city centre, it is very accessible by public transport. If you are arriving at Fiumicino airport, you can take the train (the normal one, not the Leonardo Express) to Trastevere station, then hop on the tram which stops right outside the station heading in the direction of Casaletto and travel one stop up.

From there, Le Fate B&B is a 5-10 minute walk away. From the tram stop, just find Via di Donna Olimpia (you will walk in front of a department store called Upim), keep walking for about 300-400m and you will find Via Pasquale Revoltella on your left at the traffic lights. Remember the address (No. 78) as the B&B is in a residential building.

Alternatively, if you're coming from Ciampino, you can take the airport shuttle to Termini where you can either board the airport-bound train (again, the normal one, not the Leonardo Express) and stop at Trastevere station or take Bus H from the bus station outside Termini to the Trastevere station where you can board the tram as per above. While the bus is cheaper and runs more frequently, it could get extremely crowded so if you prefer comfort and convenience do take the train to Trastevere station instead.

Our only regret is that we didn't spend more time in Rome and we definitely hope to come back to the city and Le Fate Apartments in the future.

Le Fate Apartments offers unique hospitality with a personal touch. We stayed in the apartment adjacent to the very helpful and kind landlord Fabrizio who's attention to detail on decor and breakfast made our stay extra special. Situated South East of the wonderful neighbourhood of Trastevere, it was just minutes walk from the main train station in Trastevere and the number 8 over ground tram line, which takes you right into the heart of the City of Rome and across the river. Each day a diverse breakfast was offered with a selection of coffees, teas, buns, juices, yogurts and cereal and some of Fabrizio's home made cake, which I recommend. On our arrival Fabrizio ran through the general information of how to get around Rome and made some recommendations on tourist attractions. Overall the hospitality was excellent and I would recommend this apartment as it was excellent value for money.

We loved staying at Le Fate. The price was very good, the area is residential but close to the touristic attractions by tram (there's a little 5 min walk to the stop). The owner is very helpful and flexible and brings all these lovely handmade treats for breakfast every morning.

The bed was very comfortable and the toilet and shower were very good too. Free internet and good speed connection.

Impeccable cleanliness. The bedroom balcony was great to have as we had good weather and had our breakfast outside in the sun.

I would love to go back to Rome and if I do I would try to stay in Le Fate again.

Room Tip: Try to get the one with the balcony...but I'm sure the other one is fine.
