Tucked away in a courtyard off a quiet road, but only a few minutes walk from the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo, this was a perfect location. We had a 'basic' studio which was just lovely, don't know what more we could have wanted. Staff were friendly, helpful and all spoke good English. The owner has written a 'guide' listing his favorite places-shops,bars, cafes and restaurants, many of which we tried and loved. Tea and coffee as well as a fridge full of cold drinks are available in your rooms and in the morning a jug of fresh juice and plate of pastries tempts you in the hallway to set you on your way. Loved this place and look forward to returning, spoils you for anything else, hotels are a let down by comparison.

Dear Helen,

Thank you for your lovely review. We are happy to know that our hotel has set a new level of standards for you. It makes me very glad to know the guide book served you well, as the places I suggest are very close to my heart and I love sharing them with others. I hope the future holds many opportunities for you to return to Rome.

Notwithstanding the fact that one is spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a hotel in Rome, we kept looking for the place that will be peaceful, modern and stylish at the same time and we have finally found Margutta 54. The hotel is tucked in a quiet courtyard off Via Margutta, a quaint little street in between Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna. The place is unique in a sense that the courtyard itself is very quiet but the moment you step away, you find yourself in a whirlwind of people that is Rome. Rooms are really spacious and allow for a very comfortable rest and the staff is extremely helpful and accomodating. The only point of criticism (and a very minor one) is that the property should be better marked as for someone who has not been to the hotel before (as well as for the guides), it is not entirely apparent that the hotel is actually behind the gates (which are usually closed for the night). We will definitely be back.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for describing our hotel’s location so beautifully. I love the fact our private courtyard offers our guests a peaceful place to retire, while steps away is one of Rome’s most artistic streets. We look forward to welcoming you here again!

This is a small luxury hotel in a chain of 3, all centrally located in Rome. Staff is very accommodating and friendly, and they speak English. The rooms are very large, and well equipped with coffee, tea, mini fridge and toaster oven. It's located in a gated courtyard that is safe and quiet. Lots of shopping and restaurants are located in walking distance.

Room Tip: There are only 4 or 5 rooms, and all are excellent and quiet.

We are longstanding customers of Babuino 181, Mario de Fiori and Margutta 54. Just wanted to say that these are places that just get better and better. It is partly due to the wonderful staff in all of the three buildings and partly to the beautifully appointed rooms, suites and studios. On our last visit we stayed in the new studios in Margutta 54. These latest additions to the collection are simply stunning and we look forwad to our next visit with great anticipation and pleasure. A special treat is a visit to the roof terrace in Babuino 181 for breakfast and aperitivo: something to experience.

Only stayed one night but soooooo wanted to stay longer. Loved the spacious, modern and stylish Margutta suite. It's located in a cute charming courtyard which was a little hard to find but that's ok. It's a very short walk to the Spanish Steps and Via Condotti. While it's so close to everything, it feels a little tucked away. Staff great - helpful and friendly. I will stay here again!!!

I’m so pleased our hotel made such an impression on you after just one night. Your words “so close to everything,” but “a little tucked away” – perfectly describe how I feel about our beautiful location. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Our second stay at Marguta 54. Great location, about 50metres from all the action but delightfully quiet. The suites are all delightful in their own way, beautifully appointed in converted artist studios. Big baths and walk in showers, plenty of hanging spec and drawers, coffee machine etc etc. great little touches like the owners recommendations for nearby bars, coffe houses, restaurants and shopping. We shall return!

Room Tip: This an all suite hotel, so it's just a question of how big you want your suite to be!

We knew little about this small group of hotels before arriving at the completely charming via Margutta and turning into the loveliest artist courtyard towards the hotel. The staff are lovely, rooms stylish and modern and the area safe and peaceful. I was sceptical about a suite which could also hold two beds for the kids and was so surprised by the space and it's ability to accommodate us all. The bathroom is great, well equip and the matter bedroom enormous by European standards and comfortable. Concierge was knowledgable and helpful. Babette is just around the corner (my fav restaurant). Overall, all the family enjoyed the stay. Ps the welcome drink at the roof top bar in the sister hotel is a really lovely touch !
