“nice and charming place to accomadate in private”
Reviewed April 21, 2009

We booked here on the basis of the reviews and were not disappointed. We have been to Rome on many occasions
but this is the first time we stayed in a private central accommodation. The accommodation and services were quite
definitely good value. The whole staff were very charming and most helpful. The housekeeping people were very caring
and most accommodating. The place was ideally located for Navona Square and Spanish Step and very convenient
for other sightseeing the same.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend early March 2009. It is within a romantic location which is very central and ideal for visiting all the tourist areas in addition to being near a lovely selection of bars and restaurants. Paulina greeted us she is extremely kind and was very helpful giving us loads of useful information and advice. The breakfasts are fabulous. The residence itself is a lovely traditional building which is tastefully traditionally decorated. If you stay here you wont be disappointed, we certainly felt that we couldn't have stayed anywhere better.

We can't say enough about how terrific this hotel was for our needs. First - the location is absolutely ideal! It is on a windy small, intimate street near the thriving Piazza Navona. This little street in itself was filled with little restaurants, wine bars, and clearly seemed to be the "in spot" for the locals. We were able to walk to every major site in Rome in about 5-15 minutes - very easy walks. Second - the hotel is beautiful. It is an old home with a large living room that we were encouraged to lounge in, drink wine, and take advantage of their library of tour books and guides that we could borrow. Third - the management is absolutely terrific! Paola met with us for an hour (!) when we first checked in to give us a map of Rome, tell us about all of the secret places that only locals know about, as well as tips on when to go where, etc. She was terrific! Fourth - a beautiful breakfast buffet was offered to us every morning with fresh-squeezed juice, wonderful cheeses, breads, and anything else you would want! Everything else about the hotel also was great! The rooms are large and spotless - and terrific sound-proof windows! We reserved by email, confirmed everything before we went. Paola arranged a car service to the airport for us (not much more expensive than taking public transportation, and so much easier!), and offered to arrange museum reservations as well (although in sunny, warm March, we had no lines for anything, so not necessary). Overall - terrific! This is a European hotel (or B&B really). If you are insistent on American customs, keep in mind that this is an apartment with European traditions (badet, wand shower). We could not be any happier with our decision! And we were shocked that something this nice was so easy on the checkbook as well!

PS - About Us: We are a thirtysomething couple with a ton of travel experience. We're very used to the comforts of home, but we expect to experience and adapt to new cultures when we travel to different countries.

This was the fifth rated hotel on tripadvisor with 12 ot of 12 five star reviews - it not has 13 out of 13!

Not a hotel in the conventional sense but to call it a B&B is to understate it. It is a residence right in the heart of the busy and vibrant around the Piazzo Navona. When we got there, the lady from the couple who run it and who live at the top of the house made us tea and sat us down and talked through where to go in Rome and where to eat and where to avoid - advice which was spot on. We were then shown to our room which was spotless, simply decorated with lovely bits of furniture - we were given the run of the floor which included the main sitting room which was a high ceilinged large room with comfortable sofas and lots of authentic roman furniture. The breakfast was superb with the staff keen to ensure that we had what we needed - they even brought in a blender and made us fruit smoothies!

Prior to our arriving, the proprietors e-mailed us to say that their booking system had failed and that they couldn't honour our first night - but they went well beyond the call of duty to offer us a number of options including a preparedness to pay for more expensive hotel.

This really made our Rome experience the best that it could be. I wouldn't hesitate returning. It is a superb residence in the best part of town. It totally deserves its current ranking.

One tip - make sure you get the address - as it does not have a sign outside - in my view a good thing as it reinforces its 'hidden gem' status.

Palazzo del Duca is in Via del Governo Vecchio in a noble historic house. The residence was very centrally located, extremely close to Campo dei Fiori, Pantheon and other sites and walking distance to the Roman Forum and other
historical treasures. The staff was very friendly, spoke English and other languages and was very helpful. They went
above and beyond to make our visit to Rome very pleasant, enjoyable and memorable. They were extremely warm
during our entire visit and recommended excellent restaurants and gave easy to follow directions.

This was not a normal hotel, however very clean and well worth a stay if you visit Rome. We stayed in their double
room for 5 nights. The room was extremely spacious and clean. After exploring Rome via foot each day it was nice
to have a comfortable bed and to soak in the bathtub.

The richest breakfast ever was served every morning in a beautiful living-room, it was more than in any 4-star hotel.
You can use the living-room, which has a spectacular street view, the whole time. There was a TV, sofas, stereo,
guided-books, books on Roman art and delicious liqueurs.

Well worth staying here, only 2 minutes from Navona Square and only 15 minutes walk to the Vatican City.
We would definitely recommend this residence to our friends and family. This was our best vacation ever!
We loved Rome and want to go back. When we do we'll definitely stay at www.palazzodelduca.com again!
