This was the fifth rated hotel on tripadvisor with 12 ot of 12 five star reviews - it not has 13 out of 13!

Not a hotel in the conventional sense but to call it a B&B is to understate it. It is a residence right in the heart of the busy and vibrant around the Piazzo Navona. When we got there, the lady from the couple who run it and who live at the top of the house made us tea and sat us down and talked through where to go in Rome and where to eat and where to avoid - advice which was spot on. We were then shown to our room which was spotless, simply decorated with lovely bits of furniture - we were given the run of the floor which included the main sitting room which was a high ceilinged large room with comfortable sofas and lots of authentic roman furniture. The breakfast was superb with the staff keen to ensure that we had what we needed - they even brought in a blender and made us fruit smoothies!

Prior to our arriving, the proprietors e-mailed us to say that their booking system had failed and that they couldn't honour our first night - but they went well beyond the call of duty to offer us a number of options including a preparedness to pay for more expensive hotel.

This really made our Rome experience the best that it could be. I wouldn't hesitate returning. It is a superb residence in the best part of town. It totally deserves its current ranking.

One tip - make sure you get the address - as it does not have a sign outside - in my view a good thing as it reinforces its 'hidden gem' status.

Palazzo del Duca is in Via del Governo Vecchio in a noble historic house. The residence was very centrally located, extremely close to Campo dei Fiori, Pantheon and other sites and walking distance to the Roman Forum and other
historical treasures. The staff was very friendly, spoke English and other languages and was very helpful. They went
above and beyond to make our visit to Rome very pleasant, enjoyable and memorable. They were extremely warm
during our entire visit and recommended excellent restaurants and gave easy to follow directions.

This was not a normal hotel, however very clean and well worth a stay if you visit Rome. We stayed in their double
room for 5 nights. The room was extremely spacious and clean. After exploring Rome via foot each day it was nice
to have a comfortable bed and to soak in the bathtub.

The richest breakfast ever was served every morning in a beautiful living-room, it was more than in any 4-star hotel.
You can use the living-room, which has a spectacular street view, the whole time. There was a TV, sofas, stereo,
guided-books, books on Roman art and delicious liqueurs.

Well worth staying here, only 2 minutes from Navona Square and only 15 minutes walk to the Vatican City.
We would definitely recommend this residence to our friends and family. This was our best vacation ever!
We loved Rome and want to go back. When we do we'll definitely stay at www.palazzodelduca.com again!
