A very easy, leisurely 20 min walk from St. Peters Basilica finds you ready to eat at one of Rome's nicest family owned restaurants, La Florentine (founded in 1942). However, "family owned" does not fit that stereotype of shabby, old, etc. This is update, wonderfully decorated & a true local hotspot. In fact their bakery is renowned and produces some excellent parties & cakes.
The food is absolutely great with dishes from the classic pizza to excellent meats & pastas. You won't leave here hungry our disappointed. In fact on this 2 week trip to Rome we had 4 meals here :))
For dinner on the weekends you might want to call to make a reservation as it is always busy (btw mostly with Italians). But if you don't it is just a matter of a short wait.
