Thanks so much for your hospitality & all the tips on places to go, Sylvie! The list of practical things (best coffee, best pizza, but also wireless internet, nearest supermarket, fav shopping street etc) was great, and I wish I would have had more time to explore the overview you provided of the artists from different eras whose art and architecture can be found all over the city. I love your place, with the art and your photography, and hope to come back some day!

Sylvie is a fantastic hostess and provides unlimited advice on attractions, restaurants, you name it - she is there to lend a hand.
The guesthouse is in a very good location. Public transportation is close by. But in most cases you are within walking distance of most attractions.
If you do not mind sharing a bath with one other room we would without hesitation highly recommend this guesthouse.

Thank you for a lovely place to stay in Rome and for all your fantastic hospitality and kindness. All of you made us feel at home and confortable. I also enjoyed reading about your grandmothers. Thank you for the recycling efforts in hope to help the earth and for letting us have the opportunity to recycle while we visited another city. Happy thanks to each of you!

A cozy and quiet place and an individual atmosphere at a best location in beautiful Trastevere. It felt like having our own appartment in Rome even though we only stayed one night in this city. We definitely recommend Sylvies' place for longer stays.

It was our first time in Europe, and we were a little overwhelmed in Rome, as it was our first stop. We stayed at Maria-Rosa guesthouse for 6 nights in July 2012. Sylvie made us feel welcome and comfortable and went out of her way to help. When we arrived she gave us a map and marked on it everything we wanted to see, whilst suggesting numerous other places that were worth seeing. This helped us enormously, and allowed us to plan our days so that we got to see and do everything. Sylvie also gave us a list of restaurants, cafes, bars, popular shopping areas - everything you need to know - which was especially helpful. Most of the places on her list were also in the Lonely Planet book. Every restaurant/cafe/bar she recommended was excellent. Sylvie made reservations for us, both for dinner and for museums. She helped us out with public transport, telling us exactly which bus to catch, and explained the best ways to see sites - Vatican city and where to buy tickets for the Colosseum without lining up for hours. Having someone like Sylvie, with such a huge amount of local knowledge was invaluable to our experience. Without the help, our trip would not have been the same. We would not have enjoyed our experience as much as we did if we were on our own. After we left, Sylvie knew we were going to Florence and Venice and emailed me through another list of great eating places in each city. We really appreciated all her help and I cannot recommend this little guesthouse enough!
Additionally, the rooms are clean, quiet, spacious and great value. Sharing a bathroom is fine and didn't bother us at all. I loved the style and feel of the apartment. The location is also great as it is right in the centre of Trastevere which had amazing Italian food!
I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone, especially to those who may not have been to Europe or Rome before.

I stayed at Sylvie's guest house in Trastevere for a week in May 2012. It was terrific, spotlessly clean, excellent location, very quiet, with two large high ceiling rooms and a shared bathroom. But the best part was the owner's charm and hospitality. In the end I had a fantastic time in Rome and I attribute a good portion of this to feeling so happy and at home At the Maria-Rosa.

Got lucky - perfect older style apartment I could only dream of, high ceilings, parquet floor, tastefully decorated, shuttered window looking out onto quiet, characterful Trastevere via, spotless, comfortable... And a friendly, helpful hostess who its obvious likes what she does. Would love to come back.
