We went to this restaurant on our first night in Rome, at the suggestion of our hotel. At first seemed pretty good, but after other dining experiences, we would rate it fair. Had a little difficulty communicating with waiter who spoke little English and seemed to think it was a chore to serve us. We tried to communicate with the little Italian we knew, but the waiter just kept shaking his head; at one point, we walked away from our table while I was in mid-sentence. It was very crowded; food was average and the house red wine was no better than average. We wound up back there the following Monday because other places were closed on Mondays.) By this time, we had the experience of several other restaurants and realized our initial impression of average for this restaurant was accurate. And the service had not improved in 4 days.

Recommended by Rick Steves', and it did not disappoint. My son and I enjoyed our first visit, and we made a point of returning. The servers were efficient, without hovering over you. Of course, they do not bring the bill unless you ask. This was true of every restaurant we visited. I had the sense that I was eating as Romans do, not as a tourist.

Restaurant was recommended by the priests at Santa Susanna, which is a church for Americans in Rome. We had a delightful time. The waiters were older gentlemen who spoke limited English - a sign this is a place for locals. An elderly woman was in command of the kitchen - another good sign. Charming inside, great food and wine. We will definitely eat here again.

We arrive as they opened at 7pm without a reservation and staff promptly and politely arranged a table for our party of six. We were preparing to enjoy our first dinner in Rome and half of us ordered the servers suggestions. We did enjoy the house red wine and found the food portions generous and tasty but felt rushed from the moment the wine arrived. This continued throughout the meal to the point we felt unwelcome and was the only time in a 39 day visit we had this experience. We had no expectation of English being spoken on our trip and found servers trying their best to help us. One of the many things we loved about dining in Italy were the servers waiting until we were ready for the bill. Other than feeling rushed we found it to be cute and clean with a neighborhood atmoshere.
