The service was very sympathetic. We had a waiter from Egypt who spoke fluently English. The food is very good and the waiter don't hesitate to recommend wines to accompany our meals. We went there 3 times and each time the experience was fantastic. One appetizer we took was grilled veggies and it was excellent. Pastas and Pizzas are great.
Wonderfulu experience!

Though the place is well appointed and the staff make you very welcome, the food is average and pricey at that. 9 Euros for a very small salad of rocket leaves with a few small tomatoes, an artichoke cut into quarters and slices of parmesan on top! The bowl was about 8" in diameter and only a few inches deep so not very good value for money. The pasta dish (carbonara) was too salty and we left after one course. Bread was brought to the table which we didn't ask for but thought was complimentary . . . noooo, that was 5 Euros inc service charge. I dare say they do other nice dishes and we just managed to pick the only two we wouldn't enjoy but won't be going back to find out.

My wife and I ate here twice while staying in Rome. The first evening (a Sunday) the place was full of local family groups. Our waiter was made us feel welcome and helped navigate the menu. We each had a salad and then shared a pizza - very tasty. We returned the next evening and were greeted like long, lost friends. Would not hesitate to recommend this place as a low-key, local dining experience. Good value.

We trekked to the FDZ by foot from our hotel (Principessa Isabella) and it was worth the walk. We had long since given up on the notion of eating a traditional Italian meal (aperitivo, antipasto, pasta course, first course, second course, salad course, sides, and dessert). Although the menu items all sounded wonderful, we just could not consume all of that goodness in one sitting. We were offered a proseco aperitivo as we had in other restaurants and we were tickled. It feels very special, though clearly a standard part of their cuisine and dining out ritual. A party of two, we ordered a cheese plate, which had enough for us to eat our fill of many different hard and soft cheeses, and plenty leftover. We also shared a strozzapreti pasta dish and an order of carciofi alla romana (artichokes). The food was fabulous and the service was attentive without hovering. We ended the meal with a complimentary strawberry liquor that was the perfect ending to our delightful meal. We would definitely return to FDZ (hopefully with a bigger appetite) and can unreservedly recommend it to others.

The restaurant is what you would expect from an Italian one: loud, good food, huge portions, big. Perfect if you are with your family or with a group of friends, but avoid it if you are with a romantic interest or for business.
The food, as I was saying, is very good. Not excellent, especially given the not very cheap price, but very good. The fried stuff is probably the best appetizers they have (really, really tasty), while having to choose between a first course and a second course I'd choose the latter: the meats and the side dishes are exceptional.
There is a huge variety on the menu, so it is very difficult not to find something apt to your taste.
A good note goes to the waiters and waitresses, very good and very attentive, ready to help and quick in their service.
Furthermore, it is one of the cleaner restaurant I have ever seen.

In conclusion, good for both tourists and locals.
