“So much better than an audio tour”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

You can not compare having a knowledgable guide to a hand held audio tour. Our guide was well versed in the history of the Vatican and shared all kinds of interesting and sometimes scandalous information with us. Really brought the history to life for us. My only critique would be that the tour is only about 2 1/2 to 3 hours long and it just is not enough time to explore all there is to see but that was how I felt about most places we visited. I felt a little rushed through some areas as there were a number of tour groups converging on the same areas at the same time. Perhaps if they staggered the entries? All in all. Well worth the money spent and would recommend to anyone- especially first time visitors.

“In Total Awe”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

We booked a Dark Rome tour and Marcella was an outstanding tour guide. We learned so much about the Vatican and the sculptures, paintings and tapestries. Even though the tour was nearly 4 hours, we could have spent days there and hope to go back. Worth every euro.

“Worth seeing vatican but tour not great”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

The Vatican itself was well worth a visit. Our tour guide was good however she cut the tour short on us. A few people on the tour wanted to go up the steps to the dome of the chapel but it had already closed for the day when we got there. We had said we would cut the tour short if the steps were open, but we assumed that when they weren't we would continue with the original tour. But instead, even though steps closed, our tour guide just left us there without bothering to finish the tour and take us round the basilica. It was €46 each to do the tour...waste of money. If you do want a tour, book online in advance as its a lot cheaper but if they do the audio guides in the Vatican I think you would be better off just getting them. Its a bit of a money racket the whole tour thing.

“Exceptional Vatican Tour by Dark Rome organised tour”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

Beyond any expectation this afternoon tour to Vatican, booked by Dark Rome. Most amazed by the rooms painted by Raffaello, but it was mostly our guide's will and passion that made our visit worth both time and money. Spacial thanks to our guide, Salvatore, from the Greek visitors on 13.01.14. Un giorno incantevole e memorabile. Mille grezie!
