We have spent few days in Blue Hostel in September 2010 and would recommend the place to everyone who expect the Rome apartment with traditional character and modern chic within reasonable price. The rooms are clean and tastefully refurbished and decorated with excellently preserved traditional ceilings. The area is great, close to everything that Rome can offer within nice walking distance. The best for those who like to escape from mass tourism and enjoy the real atmosphere of the city. Follow Ercole's advices and you will enjoy your stay in Rome! Well done Ercole! Good luck and thanks for help. We look forward to see Rome and Blue Hostel soon. Iza & Tad

This place was brilliant. Close to the main train station and Metro. They will meet you at the train station and walk you to the hostel so you dont get lost. This is not a hostel it is a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment. You all have indivdual keys for each room that is equipped with tea, coffee, jug and hair dryer. Air conditioning works well too. Bathroom is new and modern and a beautiful big window with shutters. A short walk to the collessum, gelati place next door and supermarket accross the street. I would reccommend anyone to stay here. I was travelling as a group of 5 and they were happy to assemble an extra single bed in one of the rooms for us. Great advice on where to eat and what to go see. There is no check in area, so you must call the owner on arrival to have him meet you there, he even carried some of our bags up the stairs. Although he leaves you to do what you want, he is always contactable by phone.

We booked 6 months in advance to make sure we had a booking and it was worth that extra effort. Within walking distance of major attractions. Supermarket and laundry close by. Lovely lovely room which was more than enough space for a couple, in a quiet building. Ercole took care of us (even helped us locate a place to shop for food for a celiac). This place really added to our whole Rome experience.

Book it right now. I am not sure why this place is called a hostel because it was nicer than any of the hotels we stayed in our entire trip. The location was great, the owner was charming and really helpful. The room was astoundingly wonderful. Good size, super clean, new bathroom, great shower. The bed was even better than my bed at home! The decor and fixtures were super cool too. We honestly found ourselves wanting to hang out there even though we only had one day in Rome! Close to the train station and metro and the gelato shop downstairs was fab too.

The Blue Hostel was a great stay. At 120 Euro's a night, it was reasonable. This is not a hostel, but a hotel like atmosphere. There are two flights of steps, with no lift. That was not a problem for my friend and I, who are younger and fit. The room was very nice, and Ercole very welcoming. He met us at the train station and walked us to our room, carrying our bags for us. There is no kitchen, common area, or breakfast. Ercole does not live on the premises, so if you need him for anything you have to call him. Someone comes and cleans the room which is nice. Ercole gives you a map with restaurant recommendations and anything else you want to know. The gelati place next door is really good, and you are just down the street from the metro. I suggest getting a Roma pass at the airport, it's totally worth it! And finally, bring your own soap and shampoo, there is no amenities except a tea pot and tea bags in the room, although they do have free wifi, but you have to bring your own laptop as there is no computer available.

My wife and I have stayed at the Blue Hostel and it's partner the Green Apartments twice now. We absolutely love this place! I'm not sure why they call it a hostel when each time you get a unique apartment. Wonderful, I highly recommend it!
