We stayed here in January 2014 for two nights and my only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer!

The Blue Hostel is located less than 10 minutes away from Termini and only a 2 minute walk from the nearest Metro station. You really couldn't wish for anything more central. Our room was fantastic - spacious, en-suite, air-conditioned / heated, fridge, flat screen TV, tea and coffee facilities, desk, wardrobe, towels, books, a map, free WIFI... and spotlessly clean.

Ercole couldn't possibly have been more helpful and accommodating, making us feel very welcome and adding the personal touch that is so often lacking in hotels in big cities. The map that he provided was full of personal recommendations from him for places to visit, eat and drink in Rome and he was also able to warn us of some of the customs and potential pitfalls we could possibly encounter - for example, a coffee costing 1 Euro if drank at the counter down the street, but four times that much if you sit at a table outside!

As two females travelling together, security is sometimes a concern for us. Not here. The hotel / room was quiet and secure and we felt perfectly at home here. A perfect place to return at the end of a busy day and somewhere I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

We noticed two "certificates" from TripAdvisor on the wall in the hostel, telling of the "Excellent" rating received in both 2012 and 2013. If they don't have a third to add for 2014 I will be very, very surprised. If we return to Rome in future, we wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else.

My review is a little late... I loved this place, it is a little old, but has character. It is defiantly not like a hostel, more like a guest house. Location is fantastic, you can walk to central terminal in 10 minutes.... santa maria maggiore is only 2 minutes out the door... lots of cafe's and restaurants need by. I would definitely recommend this place, the owner Ercole is very helpful, he bought our bags up the stairs when we arrive and sat with us in our room to give advice... gave us a map of all the main sites, a few of his favourite restaurants, cafes and gelati bars. The only pain is that there are 4 flights of stairs upto the rooms... but hey... good exercise

Good location, room is nice, clean and air-condition comparing to some hotels where rooms have no air-con+hot. We also have a v.good staff "Ricardo" show us a map where to go+eat. We had a wonderful trip in Roma. I will surely go back to same hostel in future.

The room was great - spacious with a nice bathroom and serviced every day. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. I was given a custom map, guide books and advice on sights and food/drink spots. There was even a TV, fridge and tea/coffee is the room. There was free wifi but I found it to be unreliable.

The hostel is located very close to Termini station so it was easy to get a bus or the Metro anywhere. For a first time visitor to Rome I found proximity to the Metro to be a lifesaver - it was very simple to get to Termini and the Metro is a great system to use.

The hostel is very quiet and relaxing. It is probably not a good place to be if you are looking for a party vibe. There is no bar or central socializing area. But if you want to sleep well and take it easy then it is perfect.

This was our second stay at the Blue Hostel. It is a very basic room, but exceptionally clean with a comfortable bed. But when in Rome...the room is just a place to rest for a bit, so it's perfect. The Blue Hostel functions more like a hotel without a guest reception area, so it's great for couples or people who don't want to share rooms with strangers.

The location is great. It's away from the busy streets, but close to many things, including Termini station. The service is great! Wifi was a little sketchy at times, but we made do.

The bathroom in the room we stayed in, could use some more hooks and maybe a shelf to put toiletry bags on.

traveler tip...There is a grocery store about a block away...Wine is very cheap there compared to the little tourist shops you find close by.

Thanks Again! We'll be back!!!

Room Tip: If you are light sleeper, ask for a room at the end of the hall, as the hallway does echo a bit if p...

I came to Rome as a solo female traveller. I opted for a single room with my own bathroom and I was pleasantly surprised with the room bathroom and amenities. It's very close to the train station but a little hard to find. I felt safe as well in the area and in the hostel.

My favorite part was that the owner of the hostel, Ercole, who was extremely helpful, has his own map that he gives to the guests of the hostel with many recommendations on places to eat, see, drink. All pin pointed on the map with descriptions on the back. This map made my trip! The suggestions were fantastic. I am so happy with my stay here and the great service that Ercole provided. Would recommend this to all traveling to Rome!!
