The hostel is located around 20 minutes from Termini station. Nearest bus stop is right by the entrance to the hostel, and it takes around 7-10 minutes to get to Termini. If you prefer subway, it takes up to 10 minutes to walk to Policlinico or Bologna metro stations.

The rooms are quite simple, bathrooms could be cleaner, but in general the hostel offers all I needed during three-day stay in Rome on a tight budget. If you're looking for a place just to lay your head down for the night, with no frills, that's the place to recommend.

We stayed here for two nights in October. While it is a bit far out of the centre of Rome it is within 10 minutes walk to two metro stations and also has a bus stop handy. We were of the impression that we had booked a women's only room but when we arrived we were in a mixed dorm. This wasn't a big deal but something to keep in mind if you want a women's only dorm. The rooms are small with bunks but there was no rail on the top bunks. There were lockers provided but you need to provide your own lock. Breakfast was provided. Stock standard European breakfast of cereals, breads, juices and cake. There was kitchen facilities to prepare food if you desire. Clean and hygienic shared bathroom facilities. The staff were efficient and happy to help with directions. The lady (can't remember her name) was enthusiastic in recommending one of her favourite restaurants. Hearing her talk about it we just had to try it out and it was delicious! A real local experience which was great!

Down side - there are no locks on the rooms, they are just left open throughout the day. They were safe but sometimes made us feel a little uneasy.

Though a bit far from Roma Termini station, but the bus 310 stop 'Ippocrito' is just in front of it and nearest metro station 'Bologna' is just 7-10 minutes away. The hotel stuff (specifically the man who is in charge in the morning) advised and even made a plan of visiting important locations. They provide milk, fruit juice, coffee, tea, cereals and some cakes as breakfast.

There are two things which I disliked. Firstly, there is only one plug point in the room, that too in a odd place. You have to share it with other 5 of your room mates. The light is common as well. Secondly, by default they do not provide locks for the secure locker. They insist that you have your own lock and key. They provide some lock and keys based on availability by keeping 5 euros as deposit. But if you are not lucky enough to have one, your locker is useless.

It is easy to get anywhere from this location via bus or metro. The staff was helpful in recommending places to eat and provided a city map and assistance. Rooms were clean and showers adequate.

Simple and quiet accomodation up by the University. It was a little removed from the downtown centre but faily easy to access from the Metro. Staff were friendly and helpful. They had a kitchen, but I really didn't end up using it. The only problem is that I found their lockers to be a bit small - only large enough to put a bookbag.

Overall I really enjoyed staying at the Rome CIty Hostel. It's a really small place, I believe there are only 5 or 6 dorms. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm with bathroom.

Dorm was average sized, bathroom was clean and overall it was comfortable.

The staff were very friendly, and helped with any questions plus took the time to point out a lot of places on the map for us.

For the rooms with the shared bathrooms, there were two shower/toilets for use.

Breakfast included in the price from 7.30 - 10 (tea, cereal, bread, spreads). Small but equipped kitchen available for use.

The 'common area' is a few tables and chairs in between the kitchen area and reception, but it is cosy and allows you to talk to people.

Free computer available for use + free WiFi.

Checkout is 11am, towels for rent for 2EU.

Important to note a few things. There is no key for the hostel. The rooms do not lock, however lockers are provided (you will need a padlock or you can buy one from reception 5EU). To get into the building you need to buzz in, 24/7. The staff are always there so it's not too much of a problem, however some people may not be comfortable with this.

Nearby there was a pizza place, African food, cafes, pasticcerias, a post office, ATMs, tabbachi. The hostel itself is in the middle of the university district.

Bologna and Policlinico metro stations are both a 10 minute walk away. It is about a 20-25 minute walk to Termini, however there is a bus that goes from Termini to the front of the hostel (310).

For the price (22EU each p/n) this hostel was well worth the stay. It had a friendly atmosphere and was close enough to the metro that you felt connected but not too close to the dodgy area around Termini.

Nice little hostel located about 15-20 min walk from Termini station and about 45 minute walk from the Colosseum if you don't feel like taking the metro just around the corner. Friendly staff that will answer any of your questions with a smile and pretty comfortable beds (if you don't mind the occassional squeak from your neighbor). Features rooms with or without ensuites, ensuite is nice to have but has 2 bathrooms for general use. Breakfast served from 7-10am, pretty good, cereal, toast with some jam, chocolate crust, coffee, tea. Would stay here again though book in advance to get a cheaper rate.
