This apartment is really central, so near the P. Navonna and Campo dei Fiori and all bus routes. You can walk to all the sights from here and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The apartment is clean, quie,t and very comfortable and Carla is an unobstrusive host who is helpful when needed. The only drawback we found that check- in is not possible after 9pm and if after 7pm you will have to pay another 30 euros.. As our flight did not arrive until 8pm, we had to stay in another place for the first night and therefore wasted part of the next day transferring to Pal. Olivia. Another slight problem was the fact that the name is not on the front door and if we had not remembered the house number, we would not have easily found the place. We recommend that the owners tidy up the front door area,, remove grafitti and put up a plaque with Palazzo Olivia on it. All in al, this was a fantastic place to stay and we would go back anytime we are in Rome

We stayed 5 nights in the Berta unit, the smallest apartment at Palazzo Olivia, and loved it. The bed was comfy, the noise level low, the location superb! We were a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum, with the Vatican 20 minutes the other direction. Busses run from near Largo Argentina (see the cat sanctuary there!) as does theram to Trastevere. Many restaurants nearby since you are in the sweet spot between Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona. WIFI worked well and was a reasonable price. Having a kitchen is terrific for water, fruit, yogurt. We had no problems with water or anything else during our stay in October. Highly recommend!

A group of 10 of us stayed in two apartments at Palazzo Olivia in June 2010. On the positive side, the apartments, for the cost, are large and well-appointed. The location is fantastic, and for the money, you are not likely to do better, particularly for a larger family. On the negative side, we experienced some issues with hot water in the morning (as mentioned in a prior review), and overall, I found the apartments extremely dim. The lamps were insufficient to brighten the space at night. Admittedly, I prefer bright spaces, so this may not concern most people. The positives certainly outweighed the minor negatives.

I will add that we checked in late, due to a flight delay out of the US. We were quickly shown the apartments with no further mention of paperwork (the apartments were prepaid). After a few very long days of wonderful sightseeing, we received a written note from Carla expressing frustration that we had not checked in at the front desk on the morning following our arrival. The tone of the note was off-putting and bordering on chiding. When I called her, which I did immediately upon receipt of the note, and mentioned that no one told us to stop into the front office and that we never even saw the office open, she indicated that was not true. Well, I can tell you that it was true, and the insinuation that I was being less than honest did not settle well. All may be fairly explained by the fact that English is not Carla's first language, so we quickly put the situation behind us. Our service experience was in marked contrast to the reported experience of other guests, and I suspect it was just an anomoly.

Stayed for 5 days and 4 nights at the Palazzo Olivia. We really loved it. Beautiful buidling, the bedrooms were big and roomy, separate bathrooms and immaculately clean. Lovely restaurants and bars in walking distance, right in the heart of Historic Rome and yet in a quiet spot so sleep was peaceful. Carla was very helpful in giving directions and recommendations - ate in a lovely restaurant called Cul de Sac in the Pazza Pasquino on Sunday - easily the best food and wine I have had in a long time!
Would go back tomorrow if I could!

I have traveled extensively around the world and this was one of the worst places I had stayed in. While the location is incredible, absolutely perfect, nothing worked while we were there.
There was no hot water in the mornings, the was construction during the day, they changed the layout from the picture that we saw so the bed was right next to the window which was about 20 feet from one of the busier streets in roma. If you want to sleep well do not stay here. I woke every morning at around 730am.
The stove didn't work and there was no microwave. I would have rather stayed in a hostel in the same location as the amenities would have been the same but the price would have been much better.
The wifi didn't work the entire time we were there so we had to walk a few blocks every morning to do any internet work (ie: reserving tour times, villa borghese tix, etc)
carla, while nice, really did nothing to help us with our problems.

I remember leaving loving and adoring roma, but loathing the literal stay. But again, the location cannot be better. and maybe since the time i stayed they have moved the bed away from the window..but it wouldn't really matter as all the windows are adjacent to the busy street.
ah well.

We need to inform travellers that most of the information in this review is not true. Palazzo Olivia is known for being a very quiet place. Though we are in the centre of one of the busiest areas in Rome, none of the thousands of restaurants and cafés is on our street which makes the apartments particularly silent, and also all windows are double glazed.
We do remember the guest, he visited more than 6 months before posting the review, he kept complaining about construction work which was not in our building, but somewhere else, and therefore we could not be aware of it before their arrival and, above all, we could not stop it. He then said there was not hot water, while the hot water worked perfectly and refused to let me show him. Regarding the position of the bed, it is in a very large bedroom, an improvement respect to the previous position. In all our apartments (except Berta) there is a microwave. The internet is an optional service at a charge provided by an internet communication service provider. Nevertheless we always try to make our guests feel comfortable and because of other buildings construction work (!) which we could not stop, the guest received free airport transfer and free final cleaning, on top of 10% discount on standard rate, and that made the rental fee well below any basic accommodation in Rome. He rented the Basilio, a one bedroom comfortable well kept apartment near Piazza Navona, not exactly a hostel. None of the guests who visited our apartments have ever expected us to solve impossible tasks, such as stopping other companies construction work. And most important, if they are not happy they say it.
We do not understand why if everything was so awful, they never made it clear. They kept saying they were fine and stayed 6 nights. I could have moved them or find another accommodation in the area. Read the review by Dave86 and you get an example on how much we care about our guests enjoying their holiday, whether they spend it at Palazzo Olivia or somewhere else.
Honestly it is an unfair report and we wonder why it has been posted.
