“Wonderful place for an authentic Roman stay”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

Spent 2 nights in the Blue room with views down Via Labicana to the Colosseum. Wonderful location to base yourself in a traditional Roman building. Aklesya was incredbily welcoming, and the room was great. We were given a fresh pot of tea and a croissant plus a host of lunch recommendations before we got started exploring. Breakfast is continental style served in the cute kitchen. Aklesya and Gianfranco have a great little operation running here and I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who would like to try something different to your soulless, large chain hotels!

Room Tip: Blue room is the smaller of the three but for a couple who only went back to sleep this was perfect...

I did a lot of research into a trip away for my boyfriends birthday and had decided to go for the gold room in Aklesia's B&B as it looked beautiful and had a balcony with a view of the Colloseum. Unfortunately when we arrived Aklesia brought us to the red room, she told me I had made the mistake but it clearly says on my booking email that the room we booked had a balcony. Anyway, though I was a little disappointed, we didn't complain as the red room was also lovely, spacious and away from traffic. It was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, and Aklesia was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The bed was comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot powerful water. It is up on the fourth floor which was fine for us but may not suit an older couple. The breakfast was nice, simple but nice, better than what you get in other B&B's in Rome from what we hear from friends. The location really is great, you can walk to all of the attractions and it's a nice quiet area.

When I was settling the bill, I asked could I settle the bill with my Mastercard, as it clearly states on their booking site that they accept Mastercard. She told me that they do not accept mastercard, only Visa, which I found unusual. I had to get cash out at an ATM to settle the bill, my bank charges me a lot for using an ATM abroad so it ended up costing me about €7 more to take out the amount. It shouldn't say they accept Mastercard when they don't, I would have taken cash out in advance of leaving if I'd known.

We spent four nights at this b and b with our 17 year old son. We found this B and B to be excellent value for money - we were very comfortable, lots of hot water and comfy beds and very well located not far from the Colosseum. Aklesia was so charming and helpful. and nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and talking with her over breakfast. Thank you Aklesia for making our visit such a success. We would recommend you wholeheartedly!

The place is very special and the owner Aklesia with her husband taking personal care for all your needs.
Gianfranco helped me carrying the languages upstairs because there is no elevator.
As if you are at home with only three rooms occupying the third floor and a small cozy kitchen.
The room is antique with baroque style.
We stayed in the blue room which is the smallest comparing to the two but nicely furnished with a mixture of old and new design together.
The breakfast is ok prepared by the owner herself taking care individually..
The location is very good near the Colosseo and the bus station that takes you to stazione termini.

Room Tip: All three are great but recommend the red room.

This was one of the best places we ever stayed in during a city trip. We had a beautifully and very tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean suite in one of the nicest parts of Rome, 200 metres from the Colosseum. Our host, Gianfranco, was very welcoming and friendly and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable, giving us fantastic tips on where to go and also answering our endless questions on life in Rome over breakfast. We got so much more out of this visit to Rome as we felt we got more intimately involved with this amazing city buy staying in the home of a real Roman resident as opposed to some soulless hotel. It was also very good value for what it was. I couldn't recommend this place more.

We stayed here for four nights on our October break. We had a great time and would recommend it to other Trip Advisor users.

Aklesia and Gianfranco are the convivial and attentive owners of the B&B and they take great pride in making their guests as comfortable as possible. Our first night was in a clean and cosy bedroom with views towards the Colosseum. When a larger room became available the next day Aklesia offered us the room at no extra charge. The larger room was lovely and had nice views of the old churches to the rear. Both rooms were surprisingly quiet for a building on a main thoroughfare in a major city centre.

There was a good choice for breakfast, though Aklesia advised that she was prevented from supplying cooked breakfasts due to the city laws. This was not a problem as there was plenty of other goodies with which to start our day.

The B&B is in a great location only a few minutes walk from the Colosseum, and also from the Metro station. The church of Saint Clementine is tight across the street from the B&B.

In summary, we rated this B&B highly because the hosts were friendly and considerate, the B&B was comfortable and clean, the location is fantastic, and it provides great value for accommodation in the center of Rome.

We were only in Rome for 2 days at the end of our 3 week European vacation. The room was fabulous, we were in the red room, very comfy and had all the amenities you would need! Our hosts were so warm, friendly and accommodating. There is a beautiful roof top terrace that gives you amazing views of the city.

Gianfranco gave the BEST restaurant recommendations! They were all within 5 minutes of the B&B and were affordable and DELICIOUS! Our particular favourite was the pizza place - We never knew the name actually but Gianfranco will tell you where to go!

They helped us arrange a taxi for our early morning flight as well. Very good b&b - can't wait to return.
