“Could be the best moderately priced restaurant in Rome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013

My husband and I were in Rome for six nights, and ate at Il Bacocco twice. It is a small Trastevere restaurant with excellent food, an excellent wine selection and moderate prices. The scallop carpaccio was extraordinary. The lamb confit is also excellent, as was the barley based pudding desert. The olive oil from Sicily was touted as special, and lived up to its review. Service is attentive without hovering. I was not there for business, but would no hesitate to bring clients there.

“Enoteca: wine bar with kitchen”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

Everytime I want to chat with some friend, I love to go there. The atmosphere is quiet, warm and they are very friendly. I like the finger food starters and generally the food too. There are not so many plates to choose, a lot of them are cold, but the quality is excellent. They have a great veriety of cured meat and cheese. The wine is always excellent and they can suggest you properly.

“Fantastic, original food, served with a smile”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013 via mobile

We visited this restaurant on the last night of our holiday, and wished we'd discovered it before! The food was easily the best we had during our stay in Venice and Rome. We started with bruschetta-red pesto and aubergine (€4 each), both of which were very tasty. Il Bacocco have a very original menu, and main courses were heavily based around raw fish and meat. We were not adventurous enough to try these, instead opting for lasagne; I had the anchovy and pumpkin flower lasagne, whilst my wife had the duck lasagne (€9 each). Both were delicious. We found it very hard choosing a pudding, but I went for traditional tiramisu (€6) and my wife had a white chocolate soufflé with passion fruit ice cream (€6). Again, both were sensational. Neither of us had wine, but the selection is extensive, and we saw staff advising other customers on the best bottles to accompany their meals.

If you're looking for something a little different from the generic pizza-pasta places, I cannot recommend Il Bacocco more highly. Great food, served by friendly and helpful staff, and very reasonably priced.

“Nice wine bar, good nibbles”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

We stopped here for a glass of wine and a small bite to eat before dinner. The wine list is excellent and the food was very good. I'd love to go back for an entire meal sometime.
