Like many have stated earlier, this is one hell of a trap bang opposite the Vatican museum exit! Notice that they don't put up a menu or prices anywhere obvious like most European restaurants. I doubt they even have a menu to show. The food is average or below average to taste, but the prices are sky high! We were charged 44 Euros for a pasta and a plate of onion rings! If only we would have followed the simple practice of checking prices before ordering :(

Three ice cream thirty euros. This is FIFETEEN TIMES the normal cost of an ice cream.
Ensure you ask for the price before you eat.

Cafe Vaticano is located directly across from the entrance to the Vatican Museum. They obviously look for tourists to rip-off. They significantly overcharged me for a slice of pizza and a soda -- 16 EUROS!!! They would not take no for an answer. I would never enter this cafe again if my life depended upon it.

I would not advise going to this restaurant. They take you for your money!!! They charged 12 euros for a 2x2 inch lasagna, 10 euros for a sandwich and 6 Euros for a iced tea. Service wasn't all that great either. I do not recommend this place as they heat up your food with a microwave and it isn't that good either. Again, if you value your money, especially in this economic time, do not go here!!!!

Leave Vatigan as if for Sistene Chapel. Dont follow wall left, go straight on to Piazza Risorgimento towards Ottaviano Metro. Turn right at junction of Risorgimento and Ottaviano, cross to other side of road and find Bar Gelatera (may also be called Break Cafe) can easily be found on Google Maps Street Level
AVOID this cafe or at least ask price of everything first.
Americano Coffee - 10 euro, glass of house wine - 10 euro, Platter of salami and Cheese, some savouries that we didnt ask for (four small plates) other tables also had them, we did at first say that we didnt order these, it was indicated that other customers had them, was I wrong to assume they were free? TOTAL CHARGE 40 EURO scribbled on a note pad, no till receipt.
