My wife and I lived in Rome for four months, teaching in a semester abroad program. This was absolutely our favorite restaurant! Nothing fancy, but good, simple Roman food. We ate there 44 times (no, that is not an exaggeration - I counted the receipts on our expense account!) There are tourists there, but there are also Romans, who know good food when they try it. The owner, Paolo, is unbelievably generous, and we are always treated to prosecco, or limoncello, or some exotic dish (like nettle pasta - really!), all for free. The food is excellent, the prices are incredibly reasonable, considering you can pay three times more in tourist restaurants nearby. Not sure what the bad reviews are all about, but we found this place to be consistently good.
