“Run by people who care”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

Excellent, spacious rooms and top notch service. Agostino and Gianluca are very hospitable and take the extra time to advise on itineraries, restaurants (all winners with great value) and museum reservations. We were concerned about the location not having the Rome buzz. It soon became apparent that the Vatican area is ideal with very convenient public transportation. It was great to get away from the tourist hordes while still having the street life of Rome. Ideal B&B.

Stayed 4 nights here in early October, and I can confirm that this place is the real deal, and totally deserving of the positive comments. Don't let the location on the other side of the river put you off. This is actually a superb spot! It's 1 small block from the metro, which means you are just a few minutes from the Spanish steps and the Colosseum. It's also just a 5 minute walk from the Vatican, which is perfect if you have an 8am tour like us. Plus Gianluca will set you up with some great walking routes that will let you see all of Rome's greatest sites and neighbourhoods with minimal effort.

The place was obviously completely rebuilt very recently, everything is fresh and modern. The rooms are very spacious by European standards. You get a generous breakfast served in room. The wifi always worked great with no irritating login procedures. The rooms are very quiet, no noise issues whatsoever. Tea, coffee and cookies are always available, as are a fridge and miscellaneous other kitchen facilities. Of course there isn't really a view, but you look out at the tree-lined street, not some alley or parking lot.

On top of this, Gianluca and Agostino are amazing hosts. These guys are absolutely determined to make your stay fabulous, they really know what they're doing. The walking routes, the restaurant suggestions and other tips were super helpful. I have stayed in another similarly priced (and well reviewed) hotel in Rome an can assure you that QuodLibet is in another league, which makes it superb value for money.

Just to prove I'm being objective, here are the (very minor) cons: towels were a bit "crusty", I like a nice soft plush towel. No Kleenex in the room (my wife had a cold, and I'm sure if we had asked the would have brought us some).

I would definitely stay here again and strongly recommend it to my friends and family. It's that good, really.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at QuodLibet in early October. Our room had everything we could want, including a large flat screen tv we turned on just once - too much to see and do in Rome. Our room was comfortable, plenty of room and best of all came with a great wide window with a great view which let in the fresh October air – lucky us the weather was perfect, in the mid-seventies. We’re early risers, and every morning at 8:30 I’d open my door and across the hall into the open room which adjoined the kitchen. I would say Buon giorna to Lissette or whoever was there and remind them coffee for myself and tea for my wife that morning. In a few minutes the table in our room was set in front of our now open window with our morning breakfast.

Upon arriving at QuodLibet from FCO airport we were met by Gianluca. What a great host! Gianluca took the time to give us an orientation of the neighborhood and of Rome. Giving us a map Gianluca pointed out local landmarks, some restaurants, and tips on getting around – the Ottaviano Metro stop is just a block away and the Vatican just a 10 minute walk.
Our plan was to visit the Vatican the following day. I knew it would be best to get our tickets ahead of time to avoid the queue. I also had had another concern which was arranging get to train tickets to Venice where we had reservations four days hence. Gianluca was so helpful and we are so very appreciative that he was able to get on his computer and accomplish both of these things for us. All my chief concerns, everything taken care of in our first hour upon arriving and we were now free to enjoy Roma. Plus Gianluca found a train that saved 50% on our train fare by leaving an hour or so later in the day. We would like to thank Gianluca and all at QuodLibet for their wonderful hospitality .

Much to our surprise we found ourselves later that evening at around 8:30 pm, enjoying a so delicious Roma Pizza at our ristorante table adjacent to Piazza Navona. A surprise because I didn’t think we could walk so far in such a short time and a surprise because after an eight hour flight I thought we would be dead to the world. But we had a nice siesta after lunch - a practice which we adopted in no time flat, either because we’re very adaptable people or simply because we’re very old people since we are celebrating a 60th birthday.
We walked over the Ponte Sant Angelo Bridge to get to Piazza Navona, down a dark road and before long arriving at the avenue by the bridge. Suddenly a great crowd of people were converging from all directions. All out for the traditional Italian evening walk known as “passeggiata”. I don’t think we would have made it here that first evening had not Gianluca given us maps and shown us various walks and impressed on us that we were entirely safe walking about Rome at night.

I thought QuodLibet the best we could have found for location and value. We walked to the Spanish steps the next day and the day after that we took the Metro a few stops further to the Republica stop as a starting point for entering the ancient walk to the Palantine and Colosseum.

For are next time in Rome there is no debate about where we will stay. It will be QuodLibet.

Quodlibet is one of the best B&B we have stayed in, Agostino and Gianluca are very personable, genuine and kind, helping us to get the best out of our 5 days stay in Rome.
The location is superb, less then 5 mins walk to the station, within walking distances to most of the interesting sites.. Yet it is very quiet, it's always a joy to step into Quodlibet after a busy day sightseeing, calm and serenity awaits..
We will come back if we visit Rome again.

Dear lisanagara,

thank you so much for your definition of QuodLibet: "Oasis of Calm" is a very nice way to call it..

Actually we are in a relatively calm part of the city, even if as Romans, for us, it is hard to define it a real oasis of calm. The apartment itself where the B&B is located, on the other side, as you said, is always very quiet and relaxing! We definitely agree with you.

It was a real pleasure to be able to meet you and we look forward to seeing you again next time you visit Rome, maybe for your next congress.

We stayed at a lot of lovely B&Bs in Italy during out honeymoon, but Quodlibet was the best. Very large beautifully decorated rooms (our bathroom had a bathtub and 2 showers!?) and incredible breakfasts. We arrived very early on our day of check in and Gianluca greeted us warmly with tea, coffee and toast, very happily answered all of our questions, gave us a full map of Rome complete with instructions on where to find the best Roman food, and stored our bags for us for the day.

We felt completely at home here for our 6 day stay and would return in a heartbeat. An added bonus is unlimited access to the kitchen which isn't something we found at any of the other B&Bs we stayed at in Italy -- making it so much easier to enjoy all the take-home treats Rome has to offer.

We did find neighbourhoods in Rome that had much more character, but they also carry much higher price tags for accommodation and are all easy walking distance from Quodlibet. We walked all of Rome from here and couldn't have been happier with the value for money, attention to detail and warm personal service -- which after all, is what really makes a great B&B -- we missed this at some of the other places we stayed.

Gianluca and Agostino really try very hard to make sure their guests have the best experience possible and have created a very special oasis in Rome. Book this one!

Quodlibet is top notch. Clean, modern, comfortable - it was our home in Rome. From the moment we checked in we felt like we were in good hands. Agostino showed us all the great things to do, where to go, where to eat, etc. And either Agostino or Gianluca were around for advice as we needed during the morning and early afternoon. They are both genuine friendly and warm people - and helpful.

The location was ideal, right off the metro line A and close to the Vatican, many restaurants, shops, etc. We walked everywhere from Quodlibet: Spanish Steps, Ancient Rome, Villa Borghese, Trevi Fountain - no problem. But if you prefer not to walk, the metro is always there for you.

And the breakfasts were great. Fruits, meats, eggs, breads, pastries, coffee, tea, juice - and lots of it! Very tasty and served right in our room, seconds after we opened our bedroom door. A great start to the day :)

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the courtyard if you prefer very quiet - but if you're OK with a bit traff...

Upon arriving in Rome we were greeted by Gianluca who continued to take care of us throughout our stay and show a genuine interest in our trip and helping us out with anything he could.
The rooms are amazing. We stayed in the newer part of the B&B with rooms that were perfectly clean and decorated - and quite large. The wifi and flat screen tv in the room was great. The best part is that our room would smell like baking most of the time because of the 24 hour bakery on the street level a few floors below us!

Every morning a huge breakfast was brought to our room with everything you could want which is a great way to start off a long day of walking around rome. Gianluca would chat to us about what we did the previous day and our plans for the coming day and offer any tips. The B&B is very close to the vatican (7 minute walk) and walkable to most major tourist attractions. Anything that was a little too far for us to walk meant that we jumped on the metro or bus - which is right at the corner.

Gianluca takes pride in his B&B and offers the best service possible. I can't even think of anything more he could do to improve. To top it off he bid us farewell with a bottle of wine to take home and helped us get our luggage in the cab without getting drenched in the downpour when we left.

Would definitely stay here again when in rome and highly recommend it to all!
