Owner description: We arrange private and group tours of the Vatican, Rome and Italy. One of our specializations is getting to the Sistine Chapel ahead of the crowds or being there when no one else in the Vatican! Our Vatican office is very close to the entrance to the Vatican museums. That is where we meet for our Vatican tours, not in or outside a bar or on the steps opposite the entrance to the Vatican museums.
Useful Information: Lockers / storage, Bathroom facilities, Stairs / elevator

I was a little nervous at first because we were in line for the Roman Forum when my daughter (20 yrs) was approached by a man regarding a tour. Needless to say it was disarming but turned out to be an excellent choice!!!!! Our tour guide was terrific. There were about 10-15 of us - three hours - colisseum including places only tours can go, roman forum and palatine hill. Great knowledge. Personable. Had extra headsets when one or two stopped working (vatican guide did not....). would definitely recommend.

We backed up the coliseum tour with a Vatican Museum tour, this turned out to be a different experience, there appeared to be confusion as to starting times and format once we had signed on,so whilst Alexandra and her deeply knowledgeable tour was great ,it did seem to drag on a fair bit, while we heard the background of the Holy C ,back to the office ,then went to get headphones which weren't the and then backtracking to the actual tour ! By then it was getting a bit much, and even a passionate guide like Alexandra was hard pressed to save the day,by the time we got to the main event Sistine Chapel,we were pretty toured out !
If the queues had been long then this may have been worthwhile as it were we could have walked straight in,taken a headset and been out by time we were half way through the tour,so my advice,CHECK the entry queues first before you sign on for this tour.

I am so sorry you didn't enjoy your Vatican tour, Craig - especially because you raved about your tour of ancient Rome with us. I honestly believe you simply chose the wrong tour for you.

The only fixed time group tour we have at the Vatican is 8am. With the 8am VIP tour, especially now in low season, you would have had the Sistine chapel more or less for your group alone.

During the day we have gathered tours which suit people who haven't booked a tour in advance. We offer great guides, as you know from your experience, and a lower price than any other company trying to compete at our level.

You arrived at our office at 11am and immediately joined your guide for a 30 minute introduction - most people find this time well spent because it is intended to give a complete picture of the Vatican and the area surrounding it before entering into the museums and getting details of the art and stories found inside that Palace itself.

The headsets used by all companies are now governed by the Vatican - we have simply no control over them at all.

Visiting the Vatican isn't something that should be rushed. Alexandra is a very professional guide who will always give a very complete tour - an audio guide could never compete with her. I don't think skipping the line should be the main reason for taking a tour of the Vatican - buying a good guide book would suffice for that, you could even stay in your hotel to read it!

Hope we meet up on your next visit to Rome, Craig!!

Nicola was our tour guide one cold and rainy morning. She was lively, chatty and very friendly, offering us lots of information about our Roman forum and Colesseum visit. We we strolling down the street to the Colesseum where a very friendly lady asked if we wanted a private 6-8 people tour in English for just over 2 hours. We found that all staff were friendly and their sister cafe offered no sit down charge for coffee. We had a lovely day, soaking in the culture and history and getting very excited to see everything. The other people in our tour, Nancy, Tom and Kevin, Americans from Maine, where wonderful people also and did the amazing by asking lots of questions in which we wouldnt of thought to have asked. Thank you Italy With Us for the opportunity you have given us, we couldnt of done it without you Nicola!
Best wishes for the future and we highly recommend this company.

Took two tours with Italy With Us. The first one to the Coliseum, where we found them as we were trying to go at lunch time, without tickets and after seeing the long lines to get in. There the guide was just the best, very knowledgeable, friendly and made the best presentation ever... With a guide you get to see areas that are not open to the public, there is no line to buy tickets or enter and the whole process is easy and quick. The tour includes access to the Palatino hill and Roman Forum (ruins). The only drawback is not having time to roam around on your own at the Coliseum, or to be able to spend time at the inside shops, but you have enough time to browse things and take plenty of pictures at the best locations. The second guided tour we took was for the Vatican Museums. The guide was friendly and clear, but not as good as our guide at the Coliseum. This tour took us outside to get a general description of what to expect as well as what would come next. From there we walked to get our radios and then into the Museum. Again, no wait no long lines to get inside. Walked around as the different areas were explained. This tour is long on walking and again short on being able to browse the shops or go out on your own. After a very long walk inside the museum, it ends at the Sixteenth Chapel.
Because it has been closed earlier on the day, we had to separate from our guide before entering the Chapel, so we could not use the guided tour shortcut to enter San Peter's basilica. Anyhow, after exiting the museum, we were able to get to the basilica after a line that moved fast enough not to waste a lot of our time.
I would recommend everyone to take these tours to save time and learn a lot. All the staff is friendly and honest.

So, on the way to the Colosseum ... we ran into a tour operator and signed up - gullible? No way! It was the best decision I've made on this holiday.

Me and 15 others had an Art Historian, Menella, guide us to private areas in the Colosseum (the dungeons, stadium floor and top deck), the Palatino (Roman Emperor's home) and the Roman Forum. It was such a great day, I'm still on a high. Bravo "Italy with Us Tours".
