Andrea / Fabrizio was easy to get hold of by What’s App. Upon arrival at airport we called and advised him we are on our way. Traffic in Rome is bad during rush hours. We were slowed to get there but he waited greet us. Brought us to the apartment and showed us the necessities. Also provided transportation and vicinity information. All in all we had a pleasant stay!!
This is a clean, well-maintained, well-equipped and comfortably furnished apartment. We have stayed in Rome four times before, so can witness that the price is very good value. The one negative review so far is misleading and unfair. There is some difficulty in the handling of the hot water system, but Fabrizio's son, Andrea (who met us on arrival with the best kinds of Italian warmth and courtesy), explains how to manage it and is always available to assist in the event of failure. The flat is located in a suburb on the east side of Rome, so the Vatican is inevitably more distant than the central sites such as the Colosseum, Forum, major city museums, etc, but there are routes by bus, tram and metro which get one to most parts of the centre as quickly as from the Vatican neighbourhood (where we have stayed before). It should be mentioned that (because the new metro line C has now come closer) bus 81 no longer reaches the area, which is unfortunate, but trams 5 and 14 go directly to Termini (and 19 to the Vatican) are within a few minutes' walk. There are excellent local shops of all kinds, but the apartment is in a quiet residential side-street.
We are a family of three that chose to rent an entire apartment rather than a hotel room so that our toddler would feel comfortable moving and playing around after a 9- hour long flight.
After one week of staying in this place and saying it’s OK at certain things (i.e. the location not close to the tourist centers as described – 43 min to the Vatican just to mention one, a dog in the front apartment barking 24/7, the water in the shower going suddenly from very hot to very cold etc..) we were in a need of extending our stay for another few days which we did by paying the extra amount.
The real problem started when the weather turned to be hot especially in the nights. We contacted Andrea (the son of the owner) asking where we could find the remote to turn the Air Conditioner on, his reply was that the AC gets turned on only in May and the filters were not changed. Seriously? You describe your place as having the AC to attract people and you won’t them use it for what they pay? That’s called deceiving!
It’s not only these, the Wi-Fi got disconnected because the owner didn’t renew the weekly fee; that’s exactly the message that we were getting on our phones/computer from the internet provider Vodafone when we were trying to connect.
To our amazement, when we told him about the issue he didn’t say things like: “This is quite strange! Try to turn the router off and turn it on again” or “Unplug the power for a moment”. No! rather he quickly jumped in giving excuses that it wasn’t his fault, it was a problem from the provider and that won’t be solved in the next 3 days, which means leaving us without any type of connection for the length of our extended time. Internet was an absolute necessity for us so we could connect with our jobs, check the status of our flights etc.
In a nutshell, it was so disappointing end up dealing with a dishonest owner; we believe that honest should be at the top of any business including this; it is one thing for unexpected things to happen, but is totally unacceptable trying to be “smart” with people that pay you the money and not deliver what promised in the description."It's not my fault" is not an answer after you get all the money!
This review got to serve taking the rating of this place down to the actually reality so that people know exactly what to expect before booking.
