Owner description: When In Rome Tours is a collective of like-minded tourism industry professionals, comprising company directors, two business managers, several admins, and dedicated support staff. Our Rome tour guides are fully licensed and have been leading Rome walks for many years in both English and native Spanish. Instead of working for a corporate tours provider on a commission basis, we have worked our way up over the years to become Rome's leading independently established tour operator. There are no middlemen, book a Rome or Vatican walking tour with us and you will tour WITH US. In this way, you get value for money with no extra costs at any stage. Our guides are experts in their chosen field, be they art historians or archaeologists. Our primary aim is to deliver education about Rome and the Vatican in an enjoyable way, so we take great care to ensure that our guides are as personable as they are professional. Small group tours of Rome work well for everyone and they are our focus. If, however, you wish to book a fully private and exclusive tour, we have many private Rome tour options for you to consider. As a fully licensed tour agency in Rome, we have to bear considerable operating costs as anyone working in Italy will tell you, so we are very proud to announce that our prices continue to be as competitive today as they always have been. In order to be fully transparent, tour costs on our website include all tickets and all local taxes - there is never anything else to pay over and above the prices we publish online. One of our many guarantees is "skip the Vatican line". The same also applies to our ancient Rome tours - "skip the Coliseum line". You will always enter venues in Rome before everyone else on a Rome or Vatican tour with When In Rome Tours. Our reputation in Rome is second to none, and we are sent recommendations every day. When In Rome Tours strives to offer the best possible tours of Rome and the Vatican, and we will continue to pursue even higher service standards in future.

I loved our tour and I loved our tour guide Aurora, she was the best!!!! We happened upon this tour accidentally when stumbling around outside of the Vatican. We knew we wanted to do a tour, we just were not sure which one. This one ended up being perfect. I learned a lot and loved our guide Aurora and her personality. It was educational without being boring.

Our tour guide daniela was very friendly , full of knowledge and eager to make sure our vatican experience was memorable , there was only 6 on the tour which great ! There is so much in the museum that the only way to get the most out of it is by going with a tour and daniela with her experience, knowledge warm personality was an added bonus !!

From the start to the finish and even beyond, Luigi was just fantastic. All the additional info and insights made this tour. Definitely recommend When in Rome and if you're lucky, you might get Luigi too. Only suggestion, def take water and a snack or two. It's four hours of fascinating stuff!! Thanks Luigi!!

Daniela was our guide around the Vatican, and it was a brilliant day out. She helped us navigate the mind-bogglingly confusing entry system (we'd bought tickets online but that only got us so far...) and was full of fascinating facts, expertise and humour. Highly recommended.

If we had gone to the Vatican by ourselves, we would have had to wait in huge lines, wander aimlessly through the museums and maybe stumble upon the cool sites on our own.... but with Chiara guiding us, we were able to cut the lines, and learn literally every fascinating fact, story, and of course the history behind everything that we saw - in an interesting, funny, and engaging way! And it was quite clear that, if given the time, Chiara could talk for hours about all the wonders of Roma - she extended our tour for almost an hour too (I think, she def went over but not sure by how long because I wasn't even really looking at the time!) The tour had a logical contour, starting from the ancient art, and moving forward in time, finishing with the sistine chapel and then st. peters basilica, ending with the tombs beneath the cathedral. One of the most impressive things Chiara did was remember literally EVERYONE'S name. At the beginning of the tour, she went around and met every single person individually, shook their hand, introduced herself, and got to know each person a little bit (gave us our italian name equivalents, found out where we were from, little tidbits about us, etc.) then for the entire tour she was calling everyone by name, making sure everyone was together, she even could remember which of us got stuck around the corner and would talk to us through the headset and make sure everyone caught up.

Bottom line. I don't necessarily find myself interested in art history to say the least, but Chiara made me want to listen, learn more, and get excited about the history behind these truly amazing pieces of art. I wish Chiara could take me all around Rome and tell me everything!!! We tipped at the end regardless of if that was protocol haha cuz she most certainly deserved it.

Thank Stephanie W
