My wife and I took a PM Real Rome Tours tour of the Vatican followed by A Rome Twilight Tour. Both tours were guided by Ferdinando, who was an excellent guide. Ferdinando is both passionate and knowledgeable about Roman history, art, and landmarks and was extremely anxious to share his knowledge with us. even though the weather was rainy, Ferdinando was in excellent spirits and took all the time required to give us a top quality tour experience.

We were extremely impressed with Ferdinando's preparation for the tour by bringing plenty of background material and photos of things which we saw on the tour. As a plus, Ferdinando brought top grade earpieces to go with the radio receivers provided by the Vatican (apparently only Vatican provided receivers are allowed in the Vatican and the earpieces provided by the Vatican had poor sound quality.)

Can't go wrong with Real Rome Tours or Ferdinando.

Our guides for both the Colosseum VIP and Rome Twilight tours brought Rome's ancient history to life. They were knowledgeable and passionate about their topics, responsive to questions. They were able to draw one in with their descriptions and explanations so that while standing on the floor of the Colosseum one could hear the roar of the crowd and gazing up at the open ceiling of the Pantheon feel the spatter of the rain. An experience not to be missed.

Our tour guide, Dario, was very knowledgable and he made our tour of the Colosseum a memorable experience. The tour was well worth the money and I would recommend this this tour without reservation.

Our Real Rome tour was excellent. Even though we arrived late, they had someone meet us at the meeting point so that they could help us catch up to our group. Our guide Ferdinando was really nice and knowledgeable. He was very patient with our questions and the way he explained everything was very clear. Our all-day tour took us all around Rome (and the Vatican as well!) and we saw some amazing sights. I was impressed by how he gave us time to take pictures after or before he explained everything so that we wouldn't miss anything, and how well organized everything was. We went on the metro/subway together to go to the Vatican and despite the crowds, we managed to stay together and get there safely. For lunch, we stopped by a delightful little restaurant that was our meeting point, and it was refreshing to have a guide that didn't very strongly recommend/pressure you to eat there. Our 3-week Europe tour ended perfectly with Real Rome Tour, thank you, Ferdinando!

It was thanks to TripAdvisor's high ratings of Real Rome Tours that we booked the tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum in March 2014. Having not known our schedule ahead of time, the booking was done fairly last minute, and I received a personal text message confirmation which I had requested to make sure the reservation went through. This professionalism was mirrored in our entire experience with Ferdinando, our extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide.

Not every tour company will grant you the opportunity to see an ancient archaeological site with someone like Ferdinando. We were blown away when he mentioned how his dissertation was written on his and his team's discoveries in a recently excavated layer of the Forum area, which he pointed out to us as we entered (still partly blocked by scaffolding!) and explained to us with the help of an extremely useful book of photographs and diagrams that served as a resource throughout the tour. We could tell that Ferdinando had a very well organized structure for how he wanted to explain each part of the tour, aided with those diagrams, and he managed to summarize the years of history in a very accessible way, constantly reminding us of the time frames of each character he mentioned to help keep us on track. He was even so organized as to offer us bathroom break opportunities every so often. It was the most informative tour I have ever been on - I just hope I will retain at least some of the information in years to come!

We were so impressed with Ferdinando as well as our ability to skip the lines and see both the sub-level and the highest level of the Colosseum (restricted access areas) that we managed to book a tour the next day with Ferdinando so that he could explain the Vatican to us in an equally interesting way, showing off his knowledge of art history while still contributing his specific archaeological knowledge of the excavations beneath the church and all of its associated history.

As Ferdinando explained to us, the two things in Rome that you really should see with the help of a guide are the Colosseum/Roman Forum and the Vatican, and we certainly are thankful that we decided to do just that. If all of the guides for Real Rome Tours are as impressive as Ferdinando was, this is without a doubt the best tour group in Rome.

If you're on the fence about booking a tour, just do it. It's worth the money three times over and really made our Rome vacation.

Thank Theresa B
