“Awesome place”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

The restaurant is in the interesting area of the former Teatro di Pompeo. So when you go inside and descend into the basements and cellars, with each meter down you go back a century in time. Ans then: the food is as good as any in the area, the terrace is very nice and much quieter than the noise of the near Campo dei Fiori.

“A great place in the center of Rome”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

We were looking for a different place for dinner and someone recommended this place. It is situated next to Campi de Fiori square, where is all the roman nigthlife.

You can choose a variety of food, not just pasta and pizza. And there is a menu for less than 30 EUR consisting of 3 courses. And you can try typical Roman dishes.

It is also built on an ancient Roman house. The remains that are preserved can be seen downstairs.

The decor is very nice. It is a very nice place.

“Great history, good food.”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

We ate here as part of a tour group. The restaurant history was great and the food very enjoyable. Their house wine is great as well. Good location, out of the noisy passage near a plaza.

“Shouldn't even get one star!”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

I have to say I give very few bad reviews on the whole but this restaurant must serve the worst food and have the worst atmosphere we have ever come across. We were recommended this restaurant by my mum who said it was amazing a couple of years ago with a great atmosphere and top notch food...however, things must have changed.

From the outside the restaurant looks ok, quite authentic Italian with a terrace. However, when we (wife & I) got closer we noticed only one table of people eating outside and only one table of people inside. But this was a Friday night at about 8.30pm...prime time!

In short the food was terrible...asparagus overcooked it was basically dissolving in front of our eyes; stodgy deep fried artichoke leaf (yes, one leaf); tough chewy steak; rack of lamb which was one rib flattened and deep fried and dry. I think my cat could cook better food. Atmosphere also completely unapealing...no music and grumpy waiters. Also it was way too expensive... £70 for no starters, no pudding, no coffees, no liquers. £70 for two awful mains and an average bottle of wine.

Do not go here! The old chef must have left from when my mum last visited.

“No one there! Food was very marginal”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

The place was rated on "Delish" as one of the cool places to go in Rome because Julius C. was supposedly killed at the place the restaurant sits on - what a disappointment. We made a reservation for 8 pm, no need because we were the ONLY people in the place. One other couple did finally show up - but the Campo di Fiori, which was right outside the door, was hopping, so I think that says something. Waiter was really nice but we had a soggy appetizer and overcooked (WAY overcooked) veal. I would never recommend or go back here.
