Good for: Romantic, Local cuisine
Dining options: Dinner, Lunch, Breakfast, Late Night, Reservations
Neighborhood: Trevi
Description: Antonio Camponeschi, is originally from the province of Rieti, Cittareale, with a passion for the traditional cuisine of genuine flavors, for forty years is the soul of this place, who runs with his family with blunt style and quality care. The restaurant is on the historic center of Rome, a few steps from the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, the local 800 retains its charm. The architecture of the neighborhood opens to a small square, where on summer evenings you eat by candlelight; inside wooden beams, arch ceilings, a period fireplace for cooler evenings and curiosity that gives a touch of atmosphere, a bathroom of 600 in sight! Our kitchen is 'dedicated to lovers of Roman and Lazio culinary tradition, the lost flavors of the past, the chef puts on the simple dishes full of fantasy. A kitchen away from the big elaboration, made substantially of local products, and the fragrance of herbs, olive oil and bacon. Speciality: A triumph of vegetables, including artichokes and Puntar elle. Among the main courses, alternating tasty soups like bean soup, the typical bucatini amatriciana, ravioli, fettuccine and gnocchi of sweet potatoes, all homemade. And then frying of fish fish; and yet, for meat, the lamb chops and chicken romana. In pastry, the prince is an unforgettable tiramisu all of own production.

“Typical italian food”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

Had dinner here on our first night in Rome. Head waiter was not the nicest but the waiter who waited our table was very nice and service was very good. The food good, typical italian. Overall, we had a pleasant time but felt that the place was quite turisty, which was reflected in the bill at the end...much pricier than expected. OK place to lunch/dine, close to our hotel and the Fontana di Trevi.

“One of our favorites”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Four of us had lunch at this restaurant and loved it. The food was superb, as was the service. Very nice atmosphere. Wish we had found it at the beginning of our four days in Rome. I would highly recommend it. It was a bit chilly the day we were there so we ate inside, but they do have outside seating.

“A festive occasion”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

A large and welcoming restaurant. Our little group of ten had a grand time. The food, hoowever, is variable. The pastas are hit or miss, and the saltimboca was too salty. Many of us were quite pleased with our choices, however.

“Authentic Food!”
Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

In Rome it is hard to find honest food. Tourist traps probably outnumber good restaurants 7 to 1. This place is one exception. Italians and tourists will eat at this trattoria alike. Wonderful "Caccio e Pepe"! A very nice stop if you happen to be nearby!

“A "must go" when in Rome”
Reviewed December 21, 2012 via mobile

We discovered this quaint restaurant a few years back. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. The food was amazing. A couple of Year later we were back in Rome for Christmas and on the hunt for this restaurant. After lots of walking we found it. All 11 of us loved it. Pricey but excellent and very accommodating at the last minute. Try and email me.
