We stayed at this charming, elegant and well-located hotel for only 1 night. That was a mistake as we found this to be one of the most beautiful, comfortable and convenient hotels in Rome. When we return to Rome, this is the only place I want to stay!

I can't say I shared the same bad experience as the previous reviewer - we booked our hotel on Expedia and had no problems whatsoever checking into the hotel. The reception were very friendly and gave us a map that was very helpful, but be sure to know where you are going because they won't be able to offer you much personal help or recommendations in the area (I chalked it up to the language barrier).

The hotel itself was absolutely GORGEOUS - the courtyard was filled with honeysuckle and made the areas around it smell amaaaazing. The decor was interesting and it was fun to just walk around and look at everything - original fountains/sculptures/paintings. Our room was big enough for what we needed, the bed was comfortable and we were very happy with the bathroom and shower annnd the ac worked great! The only negative to the room was that we were on the ground floor and at night the soccer hooligans outside got quite loud around 2am and woke us up - not sure if this problem could have been solved with a room facing toward the courtyard and on a different floor, but nonetheless, you may want to have some earplugs handy. The breakfast, which was included with our room cost was DELICIOUS! such a nice surprise - the breakfast room is beautiful and they offered and amazingly huge array of fresh fruits, cheeses, meats, bread, pastries, and even scrambled eggs (which I actually missed after not having any in Europe the whole 2 weeks I was there).

The location was great - just a couple minutes walk to santa maria piazza and a whole slew of lovely little restaurants and shops. We stumbled across "La Scala" restaurant for lunch and loved it so much we went back for dinner - amazing food, very friendly staff. This was our last night in Rome so we didn't do any other big sightseeing but it seemed as though it was also very close to the vatican, maybe a 15 minute walk or so and similarly close to the colosseum in the other direction - you would just need to cross one of the bridges.

It is a little on the pricier side, but well worth it I feel - you definetely get what you pay for here - luxury, convenience, & relaxation!

From the looks of the lobby, this is a lovely hotel in a great location, but I can't say any more about it because despite the fact that we booked our room two months in advance and PAID for it two months in advance, when we arrived we were told that they were overbooked and that they were putting us in another hotel.

The only explanation was some convoluted story about their computer system going down, though it was working when we arrived and they had a manual printout of our pre-paid reservation (as did we). They pretended not to be able to speak English as soon as I expressed dismay, though I then heard them speaking good English on the phone a few minutes later. We switched to French and I had to spend a great deal of time and energy getting them to put us up in a decent hotel nearby and refund us the difference in cost between the two hotels. I still doubt we got the real difference in cost because they refunded us the difference between what we paid them and what the other hotel cost on the Internet, and I'm sure that they got a discount on the room, but they would not reveal what they had paid, claiming they did not know what the room was costing them.

At first they wanted to put us in hotel Ripa which is rated about 300 places lower than Camilla Savelli on Tripadvisor. When I said I refused to go to another hotel until we could use their computer and read about it on Tripadvisor, they shifted to saying "oh no, we aren't putting you in Ripa, we're putting you in Trilussa Palace." We looked that up to find the rating (about 20 places beneath Savelli) and check the prices. The location is not nearly as nice as Savelli; it's on the main drag and quite far from the part of Trastevere where all the restaurants are.

The manager apologized profusely and drove us to the hotel herself, but we are terribly disappointed that we are not staying in the special place we researched and booked in advance, and for no apparent reason. It also seems quite dishonest to be told on arrival that no room is available when we paid for it months ago and plenty of other guests were able to stay in the hotel. I'm not sure why this happened to us and not other guests; we arrived on the late side *6 pm* and are two women traveling together; or maybe there really was a computer glitch.

Bottom line: don't pay in advance and email the day before to make sure they still have your room.

Beautifully restored old monastery, staff is extremely helpful, giving us good suggestions where to go out. Room is spacious and luxurious, very tasty and refined architecture with stunning view to Rome. Breakfast is delicious. Definitely come back.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two weeks. The public rooms are austerely elegant. The bedrooms are small with one window overlooking a refined courtyard.Full breakfast included in the daily rate is buffet style and of good quality.
Street noise is almost completely absent.
TV and internet are overpriced extras at 39 Euros a day. The staff is pleasant and cooperative but poorly informed about public transportation. (Rome's bus system is complex)
The hotel is very close to many good restaurants

The location alone makes this my new favorite hotel in Rome. Convenient walking distances to nearly everything. Wonderful Trastevere locale close enough to all of the excellent restaurants and hot spots yet on a tranquil side street. Excellent staff, great breakfast. Beautiful restoration of a historical property. An overall splendid choice if this type of thing calls to you as it does me!

Magical old world converted nunnery with Borromini's architecture transporting you back in time. Fabulous and extensive breakfast buffet. Comfortable quiet rooms with modern elegant bathrooms. The location offered a perfect blend of access to the Transtevere restaurants and cafes, access bridges acroos the Tiber to the center of Roma, while being a removed oasis of tranquility. The staff was professional, courteous, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a quiet and romantic stay in bustling Roma.
