Ensconced in a castle like building with beautiful gardens this is a great place to stay. We were initially confused ( press 1 in elevator to get to 2) etc. but once you figure it out it's ok. A truly elegant presented breakfast buffet with indoor and outdoor seating. A short walk away are wonderful shops and restaurants as well as some public squares.....no taxi needed to get there.
A chapel next door is also an inspirational place....irrespective of your faith. A beautiful front courtyard provides ample space for entering/ loading luggage, etc., for multiple guests. Wi-fi is free but only works in lobby and courtyard...but it is reliable in those locations.

Room Tip: Rooms starting with 5 are most convenient to lobby and courtyard.

We drove from Naples to Rome for just one night and chose Donna Camilla because of its ripe location. Trastevere is the sort of place one never forgets; best explored on foot, especially by night. The eating is good and there is always something to see. The free hotel parking was a major plus, since overnight spots seemed tough to find on the streets. The room itself was nice but smallish, with ceiling rafters that were high and rustic, in the sort of way a converted convent should be. Breakfast was included and incredible, with plenty of posh seating options. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who has the time to really enjoy it, at least a two night stay.

Convent, now a hotel, that is sort of like Hogwarts with stairwells that confuse you in all directions. Chapel, "Wow" terrace, gorgeous courtyard garden for breakfast. All very calming and austere in a nice way. Great location. The only negatives were a room with a terrace that had a panel blocking any view and wifi only available in the cloisters/reception areas. Overall a great stay and recommended.

The hotel was awesome. The room was not overly large, but well laid out and comfortable. The bath was luxurious. The staff all spoke English and were extremely helpful. I had some issues (not hotel related) for which I needed help and the front desk people went out of their way to assist me.

The ambiance of the hotel is striking. The former convent presence is acknowledged throughout the hotel with informational signs and a few pieces of art to view. A small working church sits in the front of the hotel. There is a pleasant private courtyard that can be used for breakfast or just hanging. The hotel sits on the edge of Trastevere, away from the throngs of college kids that can be a nuisance, but close enough to be in a piazza or any one of a hundred restaurants within ten minutes. There are a few restaurants literally a hundred meters from the hotel entrance. We ate at one and it was good. We walked from here to all of the main tourist spots with no difficulty.

...is to stay at the Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel.
Rome can be overwhelming. The noise, occasional air pollution, the mobs of day-trippers,
and the frantic energy of the City often blind a visitor to the sublime sights and pleasures there.
But if one has the Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel as a place to retreat and rest and regroup, Rome
can qualify as the best place in the world for a long vacation.
The architecture of the Hotel is historic; the service is generally conscientious; and the views from
room windows, and from the rooftop terrace, are spectacular. Up top, in early morning or
at twilight, there can be periods of time when only the mumur of distant traffic, and the cries
of seagulls can be heard.
The only less-than-positive thing about the Hotel is that they occasionally rent our their
ground-level courtyard for special events, which are often noisy. I would suggest that the Management might alert their room-guests of upcoming special events, so that guests can
choose to be out for those evenings.

Beautiful hotel in Rome. Lovely courtyard where you can sit out and enjoy your breakfast. The breakfast is extremely good. Also lovely roof terrace with fab city views. Room not huge but very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Would recommend this very highly.

Stayed here again as the location suited our needs, however the hotel has a bit of trouble running at full capacity. We did not feel that the service was as good as on our first visit nor was our room as nice. For 250 Euro nightly I might expect better.
The room this time only had one medium sized mirror above the bathroom sink! No mirror near the desk or closet. The room was dark and looked out onto another building.
So, the combination of lack of mirror and poor lighting really makes getting dressed tricky.
There was no artwork or anything on the walls which made the room even more stark.
One night we had turn down service and the other nights no. Toiletries were not consistent either.
The pigeons at breakfast were intimidating. They would violently invade any empty table and toss the cups and food scraps all around. The staff didn't bother much with them. Many of the other guests also expressed horror at this sight. Once, when we got up to get more from the buffet, we returned to pigeons on our table too. We lost our appetite...
This monastery turned hotel is a quiet haven a bit off the beaten path- which could be a plus or a negative depending on individual taste.

Room Tip: if you like peace and calm this is a unique property, but it is off the beaten path, so not very pra...
