“Very lovely place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

Small and friendly place with very lovely owners. Rooms are just like the pictures on the net - warm and friendly with nice old interior. I can only highly recommend this place.

It is placed in the university area near metro stations. But do not expect much life near the BB in the evening. But being close to the metro, this is not a problem.

How can I ever live in classic hotel again having been here?

Very friendly owner Patrizia, tried to help us in every possible way! Nice decorated room and good lactation! The negative thing was lack of AC! Very hot summer! Very good metro connection with the historical Roma!
Take the room with balcony!

Room Tip: Take the room with balcony!

We were in Casa a Roma for 4 nights and it was excellent! Everything was really super! We were so satisfied. Now we are so glad, that we had choosed this b&b. Casa a Roma is so close to metro, so you have a really good connection to all Italian historic monuments, i can tell that you are almost in the heart of Rome. I was here with my friend from school. B&b is very lovely place - small bedroom with very comfortable bed, a pretty and quite big bathroom is very modern, everything is so clean and perfect! You have here opportunity to watch television, or to go to the Internet - so this is a really good thing too, when you need it. Breakfast is light, but very delicious - when yoi get up at morning, your breakfast is on the table. From our balcony we had a wonderful view on whole Rome, and in the night it was so beautiful to look to all lights in streets and to stars and to sky. Casa a Roma is lovely place for couple, but everybody will love it, as me. Owner of Casa a Roma, Patrizia, is very friendly, sympatic and communicative person, she does everything to you. Atmosphere in b&b is very friendly, familial and safe.

I can really recommend you Casa a Roma, it is a right choice, when you want to spend a very good and pleasant times in Rome. The price of stay is not so high too, so if you can allow it, you have to reservate this b&b, i know that you will be satisfied :)

We have just returned from a week of sight-seeing in Rome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the B&B. Patrizia, the host, was very welcoming and is very knowledgeable about the area and how to use the public transport. Here are some points that you may want to consider before choosing this B&B...
- We found the B&B quite difficult to find. We had printed off a Google map which had the b&b location on which was incorrect. It is located in an apartment block next to a Pharmacy to the left and cafe on the corner to the right. The flat is number 23. There is a sign at the entrance to the building but the colours of it blend in very well with the wall so it's not very prominent!
- The apartment is on floor 8 (there is a lift!) of the building and is therefore quite high up - if you're scared of heights this may not be for you...
- We stayed in a large lavender coloured room. The bed was comfortable, king-size and made up every day. Bins were emptied every day and our sheets and towels were changed after the 4th day. Generally the room was clean. There was a tv but we didn't use it as all the chanels were in italian (obviously!).
- The room does not have air-conditioning - which wasn't too much of a problem when we were there as it wasn't too hot but i can imagine it would be stifling in the hotter months. There were 2 desk fans in the room which you can use though.
- The bathroom was large with a bath and a shower over the bath. Like someone has said before, the water pressure is very low and so don't expect to have particularly satisfying showers (in this room anyway). It does the job though. A small bottle of shower gel, shampoo and a bar of soap were provided.
- There were shared tea and coffee (also selection of fruit teas and biscuits) making facilities in the hallway. There was also a fridge for communal use.
- Breakfast every morning was a selection of biscuits and toast with jam, average tea and very good coffee. You could also have cornflakes. It was nice but very light. I get the impression this is the norm for Rome though?
- We found the hotel to be very noisy. This is to be expected when in a city. However, the b&b is next to a hospital so the sound of ambulances is pretty much constant day and night. There is also a lot of vehicle noise from the busy road. It didn't bother us too much as we were so tired from sight-seeing we could have slept through anything but you may want to take earplugs just in case!
- The area is definitely more of a suburb and not very touristy, which is nice to get away from the hustle and bustle but there is a more limited supply of restaurants (especially ones that speak english) than in the more touristy areas near the main attractions. There is a nice cafe next door for sandwiches, pastries, coffee open during the day. We enjoyed a restaurant called Limonaia in a nearby park.
- If you are planning on sight-seeing while you're there, public transport is a must - the nearest metro (Policlinico) is about 5-10 mins walk from the b&b and we used this every day, often in combination with the bus to get to the main sights. Public transport is not expensive.
Overall a good stay!

The good things about this place are that the owners are the nicest we met in Italy. Their hospitality was very warm and welcoming and also helped us a lot with transportation issues. Furthermore, the room was very nicely designed. However the whole experience was a bit disapoing because: The house and rooms were very very hot without an AC, breakfast was basic (tea/coffee and toasts/coockies), the water pressure in the shower was very very low, and it wasn't the cleanest place wev'e been to (although it was cleaned every day) and because the hosts don't live there it can sometimes cause difficulties (althogh again the hosts did everything they can to help us). In short, the entire experience was bellow our expectations and didn't match the price we paid for.

Room Tip: Room no. 1 is more spacious but it stifling. Room no. 2 was more airy and had a balcony!

We loved the location and the energy of the area with great shops and restaurants just below. We were on a big motorcycle and found free, safe parking near the door. Car parking would be a little harder. It's ~15 minute walk to the train station and much closer to the Metro.

The B&B is 2 or 3 units of a converted (nice) apartment on the top floor. The only clue to finding it is the #17 over a doorway and "Casa a Roma" next to one of the buzzer buttons. Buzzing may not get a response since Patrizia, the owner, lives nearby. Plan to phone. She is extemely helpful and a great host.

This is a great retreat from the crush of tourists and tourist businesses you'll find in Rome.

Room Tip: We had the corner room, but I think they are nice

We spent three nights in this lovely, quaint little B&B. It was conveniently located for easy access by metro to all the sites and very reasonably priced. Staying at Casa A Roma was like being an invited guest to a friend's home. The owner, Patrizia, was simply lovely. We had a delicious light breakfast prepared each morning, and she provided us with helpful directions and great suggestions for restaurants. The room was very comfortable, impeccably clean and quite spacious. I recommend this B&B highly. I will stay there again if I return to Rome.

Room Tip: Ours was the lavender room. Very large bathroom.
