“Very good pasta”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2012

One of the best places to eat pasta. Fridays also spaghetti with clams. Reservations can include the order :) Well made, rich dishes
They don't always provide the right glasses but you can ask for it. The place is a bit obscure but not a disaster. The tiramisù or zuppa inglese are a good option for desert

“Wonderful place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2011

The restaurant is not centrally located, but it's in walking distance from Villa Borghese.
During the summer it's possible to eat outside.
Food is typical roman and the restaurant itself is really traditional and is what you expect from an Italian Trattoria.
Portions are huge.
I would suggest to try Carbonara and the extremely good Tiramisù prepared daily from the mother of the owner.
Service is fine.
Prices are right.
I would suggest going to this restaurant than spending money in other touristic restaurants located downtown.

“it's actually called Al Simeto. Beautiful food, big portions, great value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2011

Our cheapest meal on our whole trip and the best pasta!. Anti-pasti, lots of wine, pasta and calzone for two all for €40
it's a small local place, full of local people. The Penne al Salmone was amazing! I wasn't expecting much but it was the best dish I had in Rome. The Calzone was also excellent with the most beautiful pizza dough. The house wines are very good and the service is friendly and efficient. It was so cheap and so good we left a nice big tip!

We went on a Monday night and it was jammed so if you're planning on going at the weekend it might be best to ring ahead and see if you can book a table. This place deserves to be higher up the ranking it's just a bit off the beaten track to be really popular on here I suppose.

“Best bargain, food quality, big portions”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2011

Although out of the touristic routes, this restaurant is within walking distance of Quartiere Coppedè, surely one of the most fascinating residential areas of Rome. Tipical Roman food (pasta with several toppings, meat, few choices of fish, vegetables) as well as Roman pizza (the thin one) in the oven. Quality is indeed good, portions are very abundant (expect to receive a bowl of pasta which would be enough for two!) and prices about 30% less than other places in Rome. Traditional family-owned restaurant, it looks the same since more than 30 years, as well as the quality. Romans eat there.
Consider also that the area is on a hill, in the earth of an expensive residential area, chosen at the beginning of XX century for being healthier than city centre (on the bottom of a valley along the river): in summer, air is about 5 degrees cooler!
First course 8-12E, bistecca 12E, season's vegetables 4E

“Lovely, traditional Italian cuisine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2011

This place was such a find! Very simple in decor, both bustling with locals collecting takeaway pizza or enjoying a meal.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed a bottle of their house White wine which was ok for €7. I had Calzone with Parma ham, mushroom and mozzerella which was divine! My boyfriend had spaghetti with oil, chilli, garlic and tomatoes - gorgeous! Dessert was homemade, Tiramisu and Panna Cotta both of which were delicious. We will definitely revisit when back in Rome!
