“What a great day out. Impressive stadium (for the Rugby) and surroundings.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

Was there for the All Blacks vs Italy match. Thought the pre game entertainment with mini rugby in the Olympic grounds was fabulous, good amount of food stands and drink stands. Thankfully the weather was great, as was the atmosphere and the Italians ever growing passion for rugby.
Once inside the stadium, it was great to be seated so close to the paddock (seats were actually quite comfortable and the pitch not steep), toilets were close by for the young and the old, and the food sellers were always around so that you didn't miss any of the match.
Bad luck Italy. Maybe next time.
The only issue with the whole day was trying to get away from the stadium (but this occurs anywhere that you find 60000 people) and back to central Rome. I'm sure that with a little bit of planning (on my part) it would have been easier, but we walked for 15 minutes, had a drink, then caught a cab!
Great experience, great atmosphere (and with every rugby international), family friendly!

“Not just sport, pure Theatre”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

What an experience!

The stadium is located within the Olympic park, in a great setting with statues and open spaces, approached by walking over a wide bridge.
Despite the stadium being only 2/3rds full, the atmosphere was great. AS Roma are greeted with song, not chants, which adds to the visual treat of colour and the waving of huge flags. Any attempts from the opposition to merely touch Gladiator Totti are met with outrage and disgust. Seats are slapped, cigarette packets thrown (then recovered!) and much chest slapping ensues. These emotional outbursts build to a crescendo as Totti's army throw away a two goal lead into a 2:3 loss in the space of minutes. Despite all of the above there is no unpleasant aggression, no unpleasantness...... Pure theatre!
Buy your tickets in advance - whilst they are available on the day, only the expensive tickets are
If you travel from Termini - take the Metro to Piazzale Flaminio. The tram 2 stops are just outside Piazza del Popolo (through the grand archway and across the road) and around the corner from Flaminio Metro station. Stay on the tram until its terminus in Piazza Mancini
Whilst the bus is an option, it takes much longer

As a Romanista above all else the Stadio Olimpico is my true Vatican in Rome. We visited in March 2011 to see the Derby della Capitale (Roma v. Lazio). The whole day was amazing... the energy was electric, the stadium was on fire (figuratively and, sometimes, literally) and the game was very exciting. The best part of the trip!

Stayed near here in 2012, and tried to get tickets. You need a passport. In the day, it's locked up, and there's not even a gift shop or museum. Total rubbish.

“A majestic place to watch football, I'd go back in a heartbeat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2012

Went to see Roma vs cagliari in May 2010, Roma came from a goal down to win 2-1 with two goals from the most worshiped player in Italy - Francesco totti.

First of all the tickets were good price about £20 each I recall. The stadium itself is a fantastic sight and whilst football grounds with running tracks are criticised for the impact on atmosphere, you wouldn't know it here! The roma fans don't fill their stadium but you wouldn't know that either as the noise levels blast your senses and raise your goosebumps. I have been to some amazing atmospheres and this one is right up there believe me!

Also as an English fan I couldn't believe you can take a beer inside the stadium and watch whilst sipping! I wish you could back home as it just added to the atmosphere and I would go back in a heartbeat.
