Pasta and outside seating in Piazza. Cheap and quality ingredients but staff a bit rude, that's just Trastevere. Enjoy!

We had three meals in the trastevere area 2 were very nice this place was awful. The staff were rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. We were so disappointed after looking forward to a lovely summers evening and a nice romantic meal it was horrible. My husband ordered steak and I ordered cheese and tomato pizza, quite straightforward you would think. The rude waitress plonked two steaks down and walked off as a vegetarian this was not an option, I called her back to say that I had ordered the pizza, she picked up the steak and walked off, no comment. I eventually got my pizza which was inedible it looked as if there were globules of oil all over it, it was disgusting. They eventually removed the plates and the horrible pizza didn't even ask why it had not been eaten, we then got presented with a 52 euro bill. I left feeling hungry and angry and would advise other to avoid this place like the plague.

A TA recommend and we went on our first night in Trastavere area: poor experience compared to other places we ate at on subsequent nights. Bruschetta arrived burnt and pasta was more than al dente: hardly cooked at all. Pizza was OK but after visiting Pizzeria Nerone in the are of Trastavere we realise what good roman pizza is really like. As it was the first night we had no real benchmark: on reflection and from experience of other places there is a lot more choice and a lot better out there.

We were told this area was great to eat and visit, but we weren't told that because we were Americans that they would charge 10% additional. It started when we asked the waitress to take a picture. Her facial expressions showed that she was not happy. We tried to be friendly through out dinner, but it was all she could do to tolerate us. When we received our 89.70€ bill it included a 10% servizio charge. The table next to us just finished and left their receipt on the table. As we suspected there was no service charge on their list. If you don't like foreigners you should post it at the door.

I see the reviews here...I have known the owners Angelo and Anna for over 20 years...This is real Roman food priced correct for the quality and attentive staff...I do like Ivo around the corner for pizza slightly better but it is miniscule in difference to here, and not such a confusion....Highly recommend, based upon over 100 visits with Rick Steves groups, TWA GETAWAY, and many others....These guests consistantly report the food as the best they had in Italy over a two week tour....Not a group Restaurant unless you have the right Tour Manager and a group that can walk...Great Place with only questions for how it could ever be ranked below Very Good...anyone can do a Penne Arrabiata, but to get the pepperincino just right with the tomato sauce properly cooked to blend the garlic just so....and do it right for 20 years...it just is THE place for this fish consistantly screwed up in every restaurant in Italy.
