We spent 5 lovely nights here and enjoyed our stay. While the Villa is technically in Gaeta, it is nearer to Formia, both very easily accessible by public transport (bus ticket only €1.50 per journey) and both worth a visit - Gaeta a little more medieval, with a greater choice of restaurants, Formia more contemporary.
Re the Villa - Pros: fantastic pool and gardens, the dinner in the pm, while expensive by Italian standards, was very good; lunch was good; room was beautiful (in the Orange house) exceptionally clean - sheets and towels changed daily - very good WiFi and air conditioning; reception staff friendly.
Cons: some of the waiting staff a bit dismissive, no lounge or bar area as such, or a residents area to make a cup of tea; not much information about the Villa or the local area in general.
If coming by train to Formia-Gaeta, you can get a free shuttle bus (Navetta) from the train station to the bus station, and then the bus to Gaeta which stops right outside the hotel.
It's a lovely area to visit, great scenery, and the hotel provides a lovely relaxing base. Would definitely go back.
