What a pleasant surprise! Although eating out in Campania is usually good, this restaurant stands out above the rest, which in a town such as Pompei by necessity caters mainly for large tourist crowds expecting low cost traditional fare. The standards of food preparation, the sumptuous environment with paintings from the owner's family, the carefully selected wine list and the level of service are second to none and as geo007 says deserving of a Michelin accolade. The owner's passion for food and dedication are a joy to behold and make a dinner here an experience to remember. For about twice the price of your average 3 course tourist menu I had a wonderful 7 course 'menu degustazione' of local fish with everything prepared in house, au pair with many of the best restaurants in Europe, so I can thoroughly recommend President as outstanding.
