The location is within walking distance to the Pompeii Ruins. Hotel is very clean and bed was comfy. It is a family run hotel and Luigi that speaks English is very accommodating. It is in a very safe area and I would definitely return again. The price is unbeatable!

Thanks Luigi and to your family!

Room tip: I was moved around to different rooms because I kept extending my stay. All were quiet but I did enjoy having one with a balcony.

The hotel was really nice with an older charm. Views of the sea are amazing and it's in a great location, the boats are just down the road and the town is right outside. The only issue I had was you can hear everything that goes on in the hallways as well as outside and next door. Pretty sure there was a party next door with god awful singing. Two workers there also walked in our room while we were sleeping. I don't know if it was a mistake or something but it wasn't close to checkout time at all. I think the second time it was the maid which is understandable. The shower door was hard to open and close and water leaked everywhere. That's about it but the staff was friendly as well.

A nice hotel hotel in a perfect location. We stayed in a quadruple room, which was great for our family. It was at the front with a small balcony. Not noisy at all with the windows closed and AC on. Paid parking in the garage. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The Hotel Amitrano was a lovely experience. We arrived late and without a reservation, but the staff was very accommodating in making sure we found a room. Well kept rooms and lovely breakfast. Hotel staff went out of their way to drive us to the train station to catch our train- thank you Monica!

We chose Pompei as base for exploring Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius and Paestum, and it turned out to be a good choice. We chose the Amitrano based on other reviews and were happy that we did, I have been persuaded to give 4 rather than 5 stars because it was a bit further from the ruins than other possible hotels and the food was good rather than excellent, but I'd put it more a 4-5 than 4.
On the other hand, although not immediately by the ruins it was convenient for railway stations to Ercolano and Paestum, and to the centre of the modern town with its glorious Basilica and Campanile, so if you want to see more than just the Pompeii ruins it is a good location.
Some reviews said the hotel was "tired", we didn't find it so. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. I really couldn't see what anyone would complain about. I liked that it was a family owned hotel with pictures showing the history through the generations, much more interesting and hospitable than a more sterile "corporate" style hotel.
The owner and staff were all very helpful and friendly. They were happy to freeze us a bottle of water overnight so we had cold water for our excursions in the heat of the day (34C some days) - I think they may have saved my life a couple of times!
I would definitely choose to stay at Hotel Amitrano again, and do intend to return to Pompei in the future as there is a lot to see in the area that we didn't have enough time to do.

Room tip: I was happy with the room we had, it was airy and spacious. The balcony looked over the street but the room was not noisy.
