“A chance to sit down!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

Although, as others have said, this is a part of the town of Pompeii it is worth a slot of it's own. Get your timing right and it is a beautiful spot to sit and consider all that is around you, and for me to make friends with the white collie type dog who welcomes people to the site, he also saw us off at the station! I digress. Not the biggest outdoor theatre but certainly an impressive one in its own right, if on a whistlestop visit dont miss this bit.

“Wonderful arena.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

Located in the archeological site of Pompeii, slightly isolated from the center of the archaeological area but easily accessible by following the paths.
I have seen many arenas in Italy and in Europe, but this is one of the most beautiful and best preserved.
Externally already gives an idea of its size but entering it that you have the full awareness of the beauty of this magnificent architectural work.
From the outside there is direct access to the center of the arena and it is very exciting to walk in the middle of it, in this place filled with millennial history.
Of course, admission is free since it is located inside the archaeological zone, even a short visit here is due.

“Great building within ancient Pompeii attraction”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

This is one of the many sites within ancient Pompeii (Not sure why it has its own listing as the attraction is ancient Pompeii?). It was really impressive and best if you walk in via the odeon and gladiators barracks entrance - you then come out into the stage area and look up to the seats from down low. You can the climb up the rows of seats and look back down and exit via the top.

“The real thing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

There are numerous theatres surviving from Roman times. This is not the most impressive or largest but it is well preserved. Our guide told us acoustics are perfect and mentioned a Frank Sinatra concert in years past at that location. It is part of a much larger site at Pompeii of course so you see and keep moving

“Teatro Grande”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013

This is not a Holywood prop but the genuine article. I wish the modern town of Pompei/local government would organize plays in there. Also they could hire actors to walk the streets of the ruins just as Hampton Court in London England does. It would add so much to the experience.
