“Our third stay at Diana”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

We returned with 5 grandchildren. The wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable staff had arranged a driver to pick us up at the airport in Rome - with stops at Vesuvius, Oplontis, and Stabiae. We think this is the best of all the European hotels we have stayed in. The gracious staff is always willing to help with train schedules, whip up a cappuccino, or direct you to an excellent restaurant. Rooms are roomy (we were in quad and triple rooms). Very nice breakfast buffet - attended by staff. Great location - 2 minutes to train station, 10-15 minutes walk to Pompei ruins. Excellent restaurants very close by. The grandkids made good use of the two public computers in the lobby - they each rated it the best hotel on the trip. Grazie and arrivederci Nadia, Carla, and Giuseppe.

A hotel is measured by the welcome you receive when walking through the door for the first time. We hadn't booked but had read the reviews on Tripadvisor. We walked off the street and the smiling, friendly, genuine girl on reception told us the rate was €50 per night for a double room. I'm 2m tall and so asked if I could see the room first. Big bed, my wife is also tall, clean room, hot strong shower, clean and with good towels. Free wi-fi and parking, great advice re the ruins, places to eat in the area and, best of all, the smile on her face was genuine.

I've stayed in many hotels on both business and vacation trips but this one reminds me of home.

As we have double checked before booking, we were very surprised upon check in when we were told that we are at the wrong hotel, not to worry, just walk a few 100 meters to where our hotel is. We insisted to stay at the original hotel as my mother is rather old and it was raining, we were concerned over coming out for breakfast into the rain. Fact is, the two hotels are owned by one company but still annoying that it is not made clear on the internet.

Apart from that, staff are very helpful and informative, they booked a half day trip down the Amalfi coast, private van / car for five people at 130Euros, great trip and very kind driver/guide.

Rooms are, as mentioned by others, rather cramped and really just the basic, so too the showers, but again, you are surely not there to stay in the hotel room.

Internet was horrid, as we went to complain we were almost queuing up! They did apologize and it eventually worked but just!

Staff are very helpful, especially during breakfast, very quick to serve. Our son requested hot chocolate and they served it within minutes! Lovely to have experience such nice people in such a beautiful country!

AS for sights, the church right up the street is pretty nice and needless to say, the Pompeii ruins, suggesting that you keep a full day open for that as it is quite extensive. Do remember drinks and snacks as there were none available for sale inside.

It's a wonderful location for those who want to visit the historical Pompei ruins and because it's 1 min walking to the train station, also very easy to make a trip to Napoli center (30 min) avoiding the use of the car.
We've also make a trip to the Sorrento and Amalfi regions and found a mill where we bougth 5 liter of regional olive oil. Icredible good!
The people of the Diana hotel are very kind and they helped us to have a wonderful stay.
Thank you!

In an unlikely location up a sidestreet opposite the railway station, but once you walk through the door you get a warm welcome from the staff and after a long tiring day it is good to be shown to a lovely room - very quirky design with modern rooms, comfy beds and a good night's sleep. Breakfast buffet was excellent - good selection. Staff very knowledgeable about the area, transport, the sites etc and most helpful.
The guidebook advised against staying in Pompeii, but we are glad we had booked 3 days at the Diana from where we could walk to the ruins or get a train to Sorrento, Herculaneum or other attractions. Would certainly go back again!

We loved our stay here- complete with Kandinsky pics in the lobby. Nothing too extravagant.. shower, bed, breakfast- all clean! The staff was very helpful in recommending restaurants to us and is located by one of the best in the city. One of the entrances to Pompeii Scavi is only about a 5 min. walk (there are 3 or 4 entrances.) Really glad we stayed outside of Napoli and in this quaint and clean little gem of a city. Everyone was really friendly and the food and ruins were great! Hope we make it back again someday!
