We visited O Primmo Ammore during our visit to Pompeii in July. After being dissapointed with other restaurants in town we really didn't think that we would find anywhere to have a decent meal - a real shame as we had enjoyed such wonderful food in the other places we had visited in Italy.

After reading a few reviews of this place we decided to give it a go and we were so glad we did! Although there weren't vegetarian dishes on the menu the host and chef were wonderfully accommodating and managed to make the most delicious dishes for me specially, I had a wonderful aubergine pasta as a main and even the amuse bouche was entirely vegetarian - a really nice touch. The meat eaters amongst our group enjoyed perfectly cooked steaks and beautifully presented seafood. Everything was so considered and the attention to detail impeccable. I loved the relaxed atmosphere and the ambience in the restaurant, it set the scene for a wonderful meal.

I cannot recommend this place more strongly, it really made our last night in Italy! If you visit, you must try the tiramisu!

Arrived late evening in Pompeii and we were finding it hard to find a restaurant. The waiter was standing outside and although the restaurant was empty we ventured inside. We were taken in a lift to the first floor- all modern but elegant with an open kitchen, jazz music softly playing. Menus in english with lots of fish dishes but they specially made a delicious vegetarian dish for my partner. I had seafood risotto and it really was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. The bread basket was full of different types of bread and was replaced when we greedily finished it! Everything was so beautifully presented and the staff attentive but not intrusive. We have travelled a lot and both agree this is probably the best meal out we've had anywhere, can't fault a thing and well worth the money. So glad we stepped inside just wish they were in London

We went to O Primmo on a Saturday night without a reservation and were able to find a table. Soon after, the place got busy with other couples and one large group. The atmosphere of the restaurant is unpretentious and easy going. The kitchen is open so one can watch the chef's work. The menus are available in English and one of the servers also spoke good English.
The wine list was good and not very expensive (lowest priced wine was 13 euros). We ordered the cheese and meats platter for a starter - and it was quite good. Buffalo mozzarella was moist, slightly salty - perfect. The meats consistent of prosciutto and various other cured meats. Bread is served free of charge. We both opted for pasta dishes and didn't order any primi piatti. My ricotta-filled ravioli was perfect al-dente and the filling was creamy. It wasn't very big, but once I finished it, I realized why not - it's very filling. My boyfriend had the seafood gnocchi, which he didn't like too much - the gnocchi were the small, tubey kind, not the regular, fork-pressed gnocchi, so he didn't like that so much, but the shrimp and clams it came with were good.
The service was impeccable. We didn't have any dessert as the apple dessert we were interested in wasn't available.

I'm not kidding! This place should be Number one, not just as the best restaurant in Pompeii but most certainly the rest of Italy!!!!! The husband and wife team really go out of their way to make your visit here a very special occasion.with specially made food for a vegetarian in our party...there is also a fantastic choice of fresh seafood, best fillet steak and desserts made with lots of love and imagination. O Primmo Ammore sums up what the chef and staff do with their food and wine.
My only regret was that having eaten at Trip Advisors No1 and No3 listings the previous nights I could have spent my money here for three nights It is a 4 hour drive from my home in Tuscany
and Guess what?? I will be here again and again and again. In fact I can get from the UK in 4 hours THAT IS HOW GOOD THIS RESTAURANT IS !!!

I use to visit "o primmo ammore" every time I spend time in south of Italy. A place discovered because of a friend looking for gluten free restaurant we found a wonderful place with unmatchable atmosphere and perfect match with traditional Italian cuisine and innovative touch. Whether you'd like to taste pasta or a second course, meat, fish, you'll discover uncommon flavors. The chef puts his own personal touch to every dish even traditional once, open glassed kitchen is a clear sign of quality food, you will actually watch the chef cooking for you while you're enjoying your dinner. Price is absolutely reasonable compared to high-level food and service. I would suggest every one to give it a try, especially tourists visiting that area who are often willing to find real high class Italian food.
