“Friendly Oasis in Ideal Location”
Reviewed September 2, 2010

We stayed at the Hotel Forum for 3 days while exploring Pompeii and Herculaneum, and we thought the Hotel Forum was perfect. The room, though small, had a balcony overlooking the garden, and large bath with both tub and shower, and a bidet. We could enjoy breakfast or drinks in the lovely garden dotted with lemon trees. The breakfast room had a view of the garden, and the food was terrific, especially the croissants. The staff was friendly and helpful, always smiling. As parting gift, they gave us an etching of Pompeii. We loved the location, just steps from the Nocera Gate, at the far eastern section of the Pompeii excavations. Entering that gate, we could enjoy several hours of solitary wanderings through the excavated city before the crowds who entered the main gate reached us... a very special, and eerie, experience. The hotel was very quiet, tucked away from the street noise, but was still convenient to the town square, churches, shops, and a number of good restaurants (we liked Zi Caterina), and several wonderful ice cream shops.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel looks good from the outside but the rooms are a bit tired. It doesn't live up to the 4 stars as advertised, however the staff are great. The location is great! Its about 1 mins walk to the entrance of the ruins, be prepared to spend the day there. If you have the time get the train to Ercolano (about 15 mins) and pay 16 euro's to go to the top of mount vesuvius and look over the crater, then walk to Herculaneum (a mini Pompeii but better preserved). All in all 3 days well spent!

We stayed in this hotel for two nights and found it extremely relaxing. The facilities were excellent in our room, which had a balcony where we would sit and enjoy the lovely soothing music being played throughout the public areas of the hotel. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful - egg/sausage, yogurt, cereals, croissants, breads, cakes, fresh fruit, wonderful fresh orange juice and really great coffee. You could eat in the very attractive breakfast room or in the garden. Pompeii ruins were just across the road. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station serving the local area. There is also a station where you can get a train directly to Rome, but I am not sure how far away this station is. Although we normally do not return to the same place, this is an exception and we plan to return one day and explore the area more thoroughly, and we will definitely stay in the Hotel Forum. Really super value, but if you have a problem with anything in the hotel, tell the staff and our experience is that they will rectify it. A really lovely hotel and great value.

A charming hotel in very close proximity to the ruins of Pompei. Very large room with a balcony that looked out onto the main street. Modern lighting, a large comfortable bed, table and chairs, and a small couch. Beautiful marble bathroom with an orchid as a nice touch.

As others have noted, there is parking nearby and the hotel will let guests keep their bags at the hotel while they tour Pompei.

There was an ample breakfast that guests are able to enjoy on a terrace off of a small garden in the back of the hotel. In the afternoon, the bartender puts out a nice selection of appetizers in the bar area (including local olives).

The hotel was also within walking distance of quite a few restaurants and shops.

This is a nice hotel, perfectly located literally opposite the ruins of Pompei.

The room was nice, with a great view from the balcony, plenty of space and generally quite clean. Bathroom was beginning to show a bit of age, but not really an issue.

Breakfast on the garden terrace was lovely - great selection of food, lovely surroundings, and a nice relaxing atmosphere. There's a lovely area outside the bar area too, underneath the grape vines.

Hotel staff were very helpful, spoke good english, and allowed us to leave our luggage in a safe room while we explored Pompei. Guests get free parking in a local secure car park too, which is quite useful.

The hotel has some kind of deal with a local restaurant (El President, or something similar), where guests get 20% off. Based on my visit to this restaurant, I would not bother as it was overpriced and frankly, not very good food. Bit of a shame.

I just recently stayed in this hotel and fell in love with it. The hotel is on the main street down an alley about a block away from from the old city of Pompeii. A Burger King is in front of the alley in which I found amusing. The hotel is so beautiful and very friendly people work there. Very romantic for couples. Nice morning buffet with a beautiful view of morning glory vines and fruit trees. I only stayed one night because I stayed in Rome mostly but wished I had booked an extra night at the forum.

My daughter and I stayed there for two nights. Right across the street from the Pompeii Ruins.
Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, internet was free, breakfast buffet was adequate. We found the hotel room to be very clean and roomy. Bathroom was of marble.
Hotel was very affordable and a good value.
I will stay there again when I get the chance to go back to Pompeii.
