“Wonderful for us!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2013

Our sat nav took us the wrong way and after half an hour of cobbled streets and crazy Italian drivers with numerous near misses we arrived at the hotel. We were early so I popped in to see if we could check in. The receptionist was lovely and directed me to the car park opposite. We booked in were given room 35 on the 2nd floor. When we got to the room it was okay but it was the room we had seen on an earlier review overlooking the school rugby pitch, we were hoping for something a little more special. We went down to reception, asking if it was possible for a front facing room. All of the standard rooms were booked but they had a one junior suite left at a cost of over 200 euros per night. We winced and said the other room would do but the receptionist said that as we had pre paid, we could have it for 110 euros. It was worth every euro extra, king size bed, en suite to die for, lovely sofa and balcony overlooking the ruins and Vesuvius. The hotel is opposite one of the entrances to the ruins and we were impressed that if we wanted to experience Pompeii at night they recommended an excellent restaurant within walking distance. Breakfast at the hotel was outstanding, the normal Italian fare but with the addition of scrambled egg with spinach and hot smoked sausages...lovely. The car park ticket was stamped each day and we have to say that every member of staff from the receptionists to the young caretaker were all friendly, polite and extremely helpful. From what we could see, this is the best hotel to stay at in Pompeii for service, parking and access to the ruins and motorway. After kicking the sat nav, it found us a 5 minute route back to the motorway (it had some help from the receptionist). Would definitely recommend but spend a little extra for a room with a view, it's worth it.

We spent one night in this hotel before an onward trip to Rome, our prime reason for staying here was its proximity to the ruins which were literally across the road. The hotel was very easy to find and in the heart of Pompeii. The staff were very friendly, the room was spacious very clean and well worth the rate. The bed was very comfortable and gave us a very good nights sleep, breakfast was of a high quality with plenty on offer. An easy decision to make and we would definitely stay here again.

I booked 3 nights at this hotel for a surprise 60th Birthday trip for my husband as it was recommended by a friend. Everything I was told about the hotel and staff was true and much more. Beautiful hotel, great location for the ruins and other places, good food and most of all wonderful staff who were very friendly, knowledgable and helpful with advice on places to see and how to get there. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Using the local Circumvesuviana train line to visit Sorrento was easy, also Herculanuem and Vesuvius in the other direction. We are looking forward to a return visit hopefully next year and would highly recommend this hotel to others.

Finally I'd like to say a very big thank you to Mareka, Gaetano, Valentina and all the staff for helping to make my husbands birthday surprise very special, he said something he will always remember.

Hotel Forum provided a wonderful place to stay. Close to the Piazza Anfiteatro entrance to the ruins of Pompeii. We had a clean, comfortable room with view of Mt. Vesuvius. Breakfast was included in the price and typical European fare; cakes and pastries made in house. We had a surprisingly good pasta for dinner one night - not what you expect from a standard hotel dining room! Staff very helpful and friendly. It's about 500 m from either of the stations - not far enough to take a taxi (didn't actually see any when we arrived at the station) but too far if you have lots of luggage.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Vesuvius - higher floors are better for this

6 of us stayed at the forum for 5 nights. The reason I picked this hotel was mainly the location as the focus of the holiday was to explore as many of the archaeological sights as possible. The hotel was lovely and staff helpful and efficient. I also wanted to us the Circumvesuvio train line to get us around. This worked brilliantly as both lines were within easy walking distance. We managed to visit Herculaneum, Naples and Sorrento easily and cheaply. We purchased a Campania D'Arte card for three days which we used to travel around on the trains metro and buses everywhere we wanted to go. It also includes entry to the first two sites, and the others at half price. At 32 Euros it is worth while and it saves the hassle of constantly having to buy tickets. The hotel is also conveniently across the road from the ruins of old Pompeii. Superb!

Room Tip: We had a balcony room overlooking the garden. It was very pleasant to sit out there in the afternoon...

I had originally booked a different hotel, but when I arrived, I discovered I booked the wrong date and the hotel had no rooms available as there was a major religious holiday being observed this weekend. The good news is that the hotel reception got on the phone and found another hotel with an opening and made the booking for me. As it turned out, the Hotel Forum is a great property -- clean, convenient to the ruins and several local restaurants. The Forum staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. And, the hotel has an arrangement with the local parking authority so that there is complimentary parking. Breakfast was good with a typical assortment of meats, fruits, cereals and juices. Typical Italian bathroom -- small (especially the shower) but clean. Only one downside -- we were on the second floor and it really stormed that night which made sleeping difficult since there is an adjoining patio area under a metal roof. Without the rain, this place would have been fantastic.

Room Tip: Try to get a high floor, especially if it is raining. This will cut down on ambient noise.
